This was our beautiful morning kayak along the Epte River in France. It is the river that passes Monet’s gardens in Giverny, but you can’t kayak that section, unfortunately. What a nice way to spend a morning!

Today is Global Travel Advisor Day and I'm celebrating being part of this industry. I received this description today of what we do and it defines EXACTLY how I feel about my work:

As a profession, travel advisors are in the business of helping others. While love for travel is important, and there are any number of professional skills to be developed, successful travel advisors want to help others. How they choose to do so is by not only selling travel but by developing and maintaining relationships, problem solving (sometimes on very short notice and in stressful situations) and serving as their clients’ advocate from the time they leave their house to when they get home. I know that when you think about helping professions the first things that come to your mind are probably something in the medical field, or social workers and teachers. But I really believe that travel advisors who are successful are helpers first and foremost. Skills and travel knowledge can be taught, but the desire to serve others is something innate.
