EAST AFRICA AND SOUTHERN AFRICA ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE
East Africa often delivers the safari travelers have pictured for years.
Think expansive savannah, enormous skies, predator drama, the Serengeti, the Maasai Mara and landscapes that feel straight from a wildlife documentary.
Southern Africa offers a different kind of journey.
Private reserves, exceptional guiding, water-based safaris, walking experiences, desert landscapes and easy combinations with places like Cape Town, the Winelands and Victoria Falls create tremendous variety.
Neither is inherently better.
The better choice depends on what matters most to you.
If the dream is sweeping plains, migration storytelling and iconic East African scenery, Kenya or Tanzania may be the better fit.
If you value privacy, varied activities, strong guiding and the ability to combine wilderness with food, w**e, cities or waterfalls, Southern Africa may make more sense.
The most important planning decision is not simply where to go.
It is understanding which version of safari matches the experience you have imagined.
