One of North Jersey's Largest Festivals is back, now bigger and better than ever before! 🍁 Announcing the 2024 Autumn Lights Festival Celebrating 30 Years! 🌟

📢 Attention ALFers! We are excited to share some important updates and information about this year’s Autumn Lights Festival. Forget all the buzz and myths floating around... We are here to set the record straight!

This year’s event will be the biggest ALF yet as we celebrate 30 years since the event’s creation and the 28th overall festival in the “Heart of the Highlands” in West Milford, NJ at the old "Jungle Habitat" property in Long Pond Ironworks, Ringwood State Park Multi-Use Trail.

👉 **Moving Locations: Yes, it's true -- ALF has outgrown its current location and is moving to a new site: Jungle Habitat! This allows us to continue expanding our lineup of activities and entertainment. Get ready for a bigger and better experience!

📅 **Expanding to a 3-Day Event: That's right... we are extending the festival to three days of fun-filled celebration! More time means more opportunities to immerse yourself in the magic of autumn. Mark your calendars and prepare for three days of unforgettable ALF experiences and memories!

🧶**Calling all Vendors!: Information for vendors will be coming soon to ALF’s website. Options for 1 day or weekend-long vendors are available.

🅿️ **Parking: All parking will be on-site at Jungle Habitat. While the event is free to attend, there will be a per-vehicle fee to park on NJ State Park property. Passes will be available for purchase before ALF on the website or at the gate during the event.

🚥 We're pulling out all the stoplights for the 2024 Autumn Lights Festival! Needless to say, we are beyond excited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our once small gathering honoring the first stoplight in town which has grown into a 3-day extravaganza with more than 35,000+ attendees!

SPOTTED LANTERN FLIES:
Hey Folks!
All of the towns surrounding West Milford have been posting up numerous photos of Spotted Lantern Flies in their communities. It's only a matter of time before these invasive insects become a serious problem for our community as well. Please take the time to check your yards, gardens and trees to make sure these bugs do not gain a foothold in our beautiful town.

The 2nd photo is of their preferred tree to nest and lay eggs in is another invasive species of tree call "Tree of Heaven". If you have this growing in or around your property please make an effort to cut it down. More info - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ailanthus_altissima
The 3rd pic is what the eggs look like. Around this time they are laying eggs and they lay 30 to 50 at a time. This is what the mass looks like.
How to kill the eggs: " the NJDA recommends using a rock or credit card to squash the egg mass while you scrape it off the tree and into a bag to throw away. This prevents the sacs from hatching." At one time, this area housed the big cats of Jungle Habitat. The Warner Brothers-owned theme park closed in October of 1976 and has been abandoned ever since.
