Having fun with CONVERSIONS in Istanbul, Turkey! ...just took a Ferry across the Bosphorus stopping at 3 spots on the Asian side and 3 on the European side (to have dinner at an amazing balik (fish) restaurant), with Andrea Stu and grandbaby Franny... 2.60 lira each ... AT 6.5 lira to $1 ... the trip was just over $1 total! ...
It got up to 25 degrees Celsius today ( to get degrees F, divide 25 by 5, multiply the quotient by 9 then finally add 32) so ____ degrees F, but it cooled down to 19 degrees C = ______ degrees F

PARENTS and TEACHERS of MATH students! We are heading into the new school year! ...

Are you are ANXIOUS about your OWN confusions with math (x+2y =3 is what?; what are you REALLY doing when you are dividing? what the heck does 1 3/4 divided by 1/2 even mean?...why does she have to write down what she'd thinking/her steps as she works it out? if he does it differently how do I work out if he is wrong? or still right? or a little bit right?)? If you are then you ARE anxious about how to really support you kid/s/students to grow as math learners!!!

Parent/s, Guardian/s, Elementary/Middle School teachers, how do you FEEL when your kid/student has to answer the following questions using these pictures of a cube painted blue on the outside but made up of small wooden cubes with blue paint only on the outside we see, and he/she NEEDS you help?
*How many little cubes are there in total?
*How many little cubes have exactly 0 sides painted blue?
*How many little cubes have exactly 1 side painted blue?*How many little cubes have exactly 2 sides painted blue?*How many little cubes have exactly 3 sides painted blue?*How many little cubes have exactly 4 sides painted blue?
What patterns do you see in your answers?
What if, instead of 16 (4X4) small cube faces showing on each side, there were 9 (3X3), what are your answers to the above questions?
What about 25 (5X5) small cube faces showing on each side?
Now do you see any more patterns that would help you solve for 100 (10X10) small cube faces on each side WITHOUT COUNTING?
