I am so proud of what we do to help show our guests how wonderful Peru is............
Nina and her team at Ancient Summit Inc. was our first choice for guiding us on our once-in-a-lifetime bucket list trip to Machu Picchu in Peru. My daughter and I did a great deal of research and loved the bespoke nature of Nina's approach. In the planning stages, we worked together seamlessly to create the exact trip that we wanted - from the locations and hotels to the cultural experiences and activities, Nina and her team lovingly looked after us. She and her team provided excellent advice and planning, making sure to honor our desires while being mindful of our budget.
Our guide on the Inca Trail (Tomas) was exceptional - professional, patient, knowledgeable and supportive when it took me longer to do the climb than anticipated. Thanks to his expert guidance, we made it to the magnificent Sun Gate overlooking the Citadel on Machu Picchu. The view was spectacular and it was a truly spiritual experience.
We were in good hands the entire trip and I wholeheartedly recommend Nina and Ancient Summits if you are considering a magical trip to Peru or anywhere else they operate. They are professionals who made it easy for us to enjoy our marvelous trip

We had a couple stopping in Peru for a few days while on a cruise. Here is what they wrote.......Your agency, Ancient Summit, made our recent trip to Peru memorable. First of all, this was our first time on a private tour, and we did not know what to expect. Throughout the time in Peru, we were in constant touch with Edgar in the Peruvian office. This tour far exceeded my expectations. We were treated so well and made to feel special. We left with wonderful memories of Peru and its people. We were not sure how much we could enjoy our short 5 days from our cruise and you chose the best of the best experiences.
On day 1, we were met at the ship and spent the day at Trujillo touring the ancient pyramid built by the Moche culture. Our guide explained all these excavations.
She was so knowledgeable. We had a delicious lunch at a beach restaurant overlooking the Pacific.
On day 2, our driver met us at our cruise ship as soon as we walked off. He was our driver the entire time we were in Lima, and he was an amazing driver. Our guide was a gem, and we walked around neighborhoods and saw locals enjoyinging their weekend.
On day 3, we visited the Museum of Gold. Later we had lunch at Senora Maria's house. This was an unforgetable experience because lunch was really a feast of Peruvian food served in a private home. What an incredible day!
On day 4, another food day that was so special. We sampled Pisco sours, and went to a local market and ate the most delicious fruits. Also went to a gorgeous restaurant overelooking the ruins. Food was delicious!! We felt so special.
On day 5, another wonderful experience in Paracas. Our guide took us to a gorgeous hotel where we boarded a small speed boat that took us to the Ballestas Islands where we saw sea lions, penguins, and birds. IT WAS A WONDERFUL TRIP. We ended the afternoon with delicious lunch at Hacienda La Caravedo. Also had a private tour of the distilleries. My husband and I highly recommend Nina and Ancient Summit for your private visits in Peru.

This is a restaurant in my "hood", Urubamba, when I am home in the Sacred Valley. It is a favorite for me and everyone I sent there. Today, they shared this photo of fresh trout from Lake Titicaca and I will try to translate the ingredients because it sounds like a giant taste feast..... Arugula chimichurri, capers and pecans served with swiss chard, sauteed string beans on a bed of pear and purple cabbage pure'. Oh, and don't forget the Chocolate Piano for desert. I can supply photos of that. https://vallegastronomico.com/en/casacolonial-en/

I always have Peru on my mind and lately have been thinking about so many of the areas that I have not spent as much time in as I would like. In particular, northern Peru, with its ancient and unique cultures, very different from the Incas, held me fascinated on my few visits. Maybe I will start some posts of some of these different areas up in the north. Here is the first one......CHAN CHAN
During its heyday, about 600 years ago, Chan Chan, in northern Peru, was the largest city in the Americas and the largest ADOBE city on earth. About ten thousand structures, some with walls 30 feet high, were woven amid a maze of passageways and streets. Palaces and temples were decorated with elaborate friezes, some of which were hundreds of feet long. Come and visit Chan Chan soon. In the past, the threat to this city of mud was the extreme lack of water. Now, torrential rains are gradually washing away this nine-square-mile ancient city. Chan Chan was the capital of the Chimú civilization, which lasted from around 850 to around 1470 A.D.

A day for bragging rights. Even after almost 20 years of sharing the place I love with so many guests, it reminds me why I do it when I get these letters. Also reminds me that I need to start putting them up on my website. Haven't done that lately but we are still absolutely open for business. Or should I say open for bringing joy to savvy travelers.

Hi Nina,
We all had the most amazing time in Peru. The whole itinerary was perfect - I loved how we had full but not packed days so we always had time in the late afternoons to enjoy the hotel, town, and have a nice relaxing dinner. The most memorable parts of the trip were the special touches such as lunch and horseback riding at the ranch (this was favorite activity of the kids), the most special "picnic" (I put it in quotes because it was the most fantastic fresh meal!), the "mom" weavers, and of course the beautiful children at the school. Of course, seeing the all sights was breathtaking!

Nick was the most amazing tour guide - he was so fun for the kids (not sure how we will finish all the candy and treats he sent us home with!) and so informative with all the history he was sharing. Socrates and Edgar were also fantastic. Edgar was extremely helpful on the last day when our flight to Lima was cancelled and helped us rebook for the next flight.

I can see why you are so passionate about Peru. We all fell in love with the country. I've attached some photos for you. Yes - We will share our experience with all our friends here - will definitely refer Ancient Summit Inc!

Thank you again so much for giving us the most memorable time in Peru!
-Nicole and the family

Peru is like visiting so many countries in one. You can easily stay a month and only see a pinhead. We have it all - the Andes, the Amazon, the Coast, the Desert and everything else in between. And so many Wonders! Some of you know what these are. Have you been?

So someone posted a photo of a place in Peru that was so incredibly fake and AI created. I may not know much but I do know a bit about my Peru and feel it necessary to show reality. In the last several years the "rainbow mountains" near Cusco have become special tourist visits. There are different ones with different names but none of them look like the fake photos I have seen. Here is a bunch that are either taken by my guests and/or have my guests in them (with their permission to use). They are not touched and are not professional just real. I did a Google search for images and was astounded by the color enhanced photos throughout and even by reputable tour companies. Sorry, honesty in all things is more important than ever. Enjoy.
