Not every great Key West view comes from a beach or a boat. Some of the best ones come from climbing eighty eight steps straight up. 🗼 The Key West Lighthouse, built in 1848 and rebuilt taller after later storms, still stands right in the middle of Old Town, with the keeper's quarters next door now running as a small maritime history museum.

Climb to the top and you get one of the only unobstructed views of the whole island at once, rooftops, harbor, and open water in every direction. The keeper's cottage tells the quieter side of the story, generations of families who lived right at the base of the light, responsible for keeping it burning long before automation took over. 🌅

It's one of those spots that's easy to walk past entirely if you're focused on Duval Street, and genuinely worth the climb if you're not in a hurry.
