Growing safety concerns are putting the spotlight on independent jet ski rentals in Nassau, one of the Caribbean's busiest cruise destinations.

According to recent reports, seven American women have allegedly been attacked by jet ski operators in the Nassau area, raising fresh concerns for cruise passengers planning beach days and water activities.

The reported incidents are part of a wider pattern that has also included several serious accidents.

Since August 2024:

👉 Six American visitors have reportedly been hospitalized following separate jet ski accidents.

👉 Three suffered injuries so severe they required emergency medical flights home.

👉 One person was killed after a collision involving an allegedly unlicensed jet ski operator near Paradise Island.

Recent travel guidance has also raised concerns that some independent operators may be unlicensed, uninsured or operating without proper safety standards.

Travelers are also being advised not to accept rides from independent jet ski operators, even if they are not planning to rent one.

Several areas popular with cruise passengers have been highlighted as places where visitors should use extra caution, including:

🔸 Areas around Paradise Island and the Nassau cruise port

Many cruise passengers book excursions after arriving in port, making them more likely to encounter independent operators offering last-minute deals along the beach or near the cruise terminal.

Despite these recent incidents, millions of visitors continue to enjoy Nassau safely every year. However, many experienced cruisers recommend booking water activities through the cruise line or with established licensed operators rather than accepting offers from vendors on the beach.
