Happy Birthday, Yellowstone National Park!
On March 1, 1872, President Grant signed the Yellowstone National Park Protection Act, creating the world’s first national park.
We are proud to be the western gateway to Yellowstone!

Before the geyser and grizzlies… comes the gate. Our West Entrance is one of the busiest in the entire National Park Service, welcoming up to 5,000 vehicles per day during peak season! 🤯

With millions of annual visitors, it’s no surprise this gate gets crowded, especially between 7 a.m. and noon. Make your entrance as smooth as the scenic drive ahead:

✅ Buy your entrance pass early at the West Yellowstone Visitor Information Center. Open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the summer, they sell every type of park pass – annual, lifetime, and weekly.

✅ Already have a pass? Use the prepaid line at the entrance.

✅ Using an annual or lifetime pass? Have your photo ID ready when you pull up to the booth.

✅ Check the live entrance we**am (available at go.nps.gov/YELLWestCam) to see current traffic before heading out.

✅ Carpool when possible – fewer vehicles mean faster entry for everyone.

Thanks for your patience as we welcome visitors from around the world to experience this incredible place! A little planning goes a long way, and your cooperation helps keep Yellowstone wild, beautiful, and accessible for all.

More geological changes are occurring at Yellowstone National Park, as another hole forms in one of the park's basins.

The hole is a blue water spring, discovered by geologists in April as they conducted routine maintenance of temperature logging stations at Norris Geyser Basin, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The pool, located in the Porcelain Basin sub-basin west of a patch of vegetation known as "Tree Island," was not there during their last visit to the area in the fall, according to the USGS. https://abcnews.visitlink.me/2f7SGB
