Eric and his group stayed at Gibbon Meadows Getaway. It combines our 6-bedroom, 6.5-bath Lodge with our 2-bedroom, 2-bath Loft into one stay with 8 bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms, giving larger groups space to gather together while still having room to spread out and enjoy their own space.

Each spring, before the roads open to regular traffic, Yellowstone offers a quieter, more peaceful way to explore, one that most visitors never get to experience.

Right now, cyclists can ride between the West Entrance in West Yellowstone and Mammoth Hot Springs.

Conditions can vary year to year, so it’s important to be prepared, but for those who are, this is one of the most unique ways to experience Yellowstone.

Five years ago, our home in West Yellowstone burned down.

It was the Saturday of Presidents' Day weekend. Shortly after midnight, our Ring camera alerted me to movement.

We had closed on the house Thanksgiving weekend and began renovating it. It was the beginning of a family dream, a place near Yellowstone National Park where we could gather with our children and grandchildren for years to come.

Usually, the camera alert meant a fox playing in the snow. I had started referring to her as my fox and loved watching her.

That night was different.

I debated. Should I go to bed or watch my fox? For a few minutes, I ignored it.

Then I felt the whispering of the Spirit telling me I needed to look at the camera.

My heart sank when I saw flames coming out of the back window.

We quickly called the fire department, packed, and drove to Montana.

By the time we arrived that morning, the house was a total loss. Smoke was still rising from the rubble.

We are grateful to the Hebgen Basin Rural Fire District for responding and preventing the fire from spreading to other homes.

That morning changed everything.
