Imagine a world losing its most precious inhabitants. Only about 3,300 to 5,300 adult shoebills remain in the wild, and I was blessed to meet one. Its silent, respectful bow at the ๐™๐™œ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™๐™– ๐™’๐™ž๐™ก๐™™๐™ก๐™ž๐™›๐™š ๐™€๐™™๐™ช๐™˜๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐˜พ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™š was a moment of pure magic, a connection I'll cherish forever. And our chimpanzee kin? Critically endangered, yet so brilliant and profoundly like us.
