Labor Day is a day off for a lot of people. It's a flying day for us.

Right now, C5 crews, mechanics, dispatchers and ramp teams in Houston, Dulles, Cleveland and Albany are working the holiday — getting folks to the last cookout of the summer, to a first week of school, to home.

An ERJ145 doesn't push back without a tug driver. A cabin doesn't turn in minutes without a crew that's done it hundreds of times.

To everyone in the C5 Family on the clock today - and every day: thank you. 🇺🇸

From the Scheduling Desk to Certified Dispatcher! ✈️

Congratulations to Sendy, who recently earned her Aircraft Dispatcher certificate through CommuteAir’s Dispatch Pathway Program!

After a year and a half in Crew Scheduling, Sendy’s experience behind the scenes sparked an interest in learning even more about the operational side of aviation.

“My experience working in crew scheduling is what really opened my eyes to the operational side of the industry. The more I learned about what happens behind the scenes, the more I wanted to learn different aspects of the operation.”

With support from teammates across the operation, Sendy completed classroom training at Kent State covering flight planning, weather, fuel, regulations, aircraft performance and more — all while continuing her career with CommuteAir.

She also passed her instrument check ride just two weeks before her dispatch check ride!

While Sendy’s long-term goal is still to become an airline pilot, her new certification gives her another valuable perspective on what it takes to safely and efficiently operate every flight.

Her goal now? “I want to continue building my confidence and experience, so our crew members know they are in good hands when they are in the field operating flights.”

And, of course, getting used to those 4 a.m. shifts.
