🌧️🌊 Spring has arrived in Newaygo County — and so has heavy rain & high water in our beloved rivers.
Our rivers, streams, and shorelines are running fast, high, and can be dangerous this time of year. While spring exploring is beautiful, safety comes first.

⚠️ Please use caution near riverbanks, dams, bridges, and access sites. Be sure to check local sources for up to date conditions, as many access sites for the White River and Muskegon River are currently (4.16.26) closed.
We want everyone to enjoy Newaygo County safely this spring. Take in the views, respect the water, and plan smart adventures.

The Great Railroad Trestle is the bridge that sits over the White River just south of White Cloud. It was built on September 29, 1875 and is still standing and in use to this day! The bridge is 178 feet between two abutments on each end and spans 135 feet. It is around 37 feet above the water and remains one of the very few wooden bridges in the State of Michigan.
