Ever wondered what Glacier looks like from the water? Hop on a boat and cruise across those crystal-clear lakes with Glacier Park Boats. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the shore, and enjoy the chill vibes as you take in the views.

A scenic boat tour is the perfect way to see the park from a totally different angle, with a local guide sharing the stories that make Glacier unique. Season starts on May 16th on Lake McDonald and first week of June for Two Medicine and St. Mary.

No Montana summer is complete without time spent on the river, so how about some whitewater rafting just outside of Glacier National Park?

A rafting trip is an absolute must for any visit to Montana. It’s an excellent way to get to know a local guide in an intimidate setting to chat about your upcoming adventures or reflect on your time with friends and family.

Pro Tip: Book an afternoon rafting trip starting at either 1 PM or 2 PM and enjoy the river while the crowds thin from the park. Reservations are no longer needed after 3 PM, after your rafting trip make your way to Lake McDonald for a relaxing evening by the water or dinner at Lake McDonald Lodge.

Did you know 2025 Going-to-the-Sun Road Vehicle Reservations are now available to purchase?

Here’s what you need to know:

🗓️ June 13 - September 28
Vehicles reservations are required for the west side of Going-to-the-Sun Road and North Fork. The western checkpoint is located near the foot of Lake McDonald outside of Apgar Village. You can visit Apgar and the Visitor Center without a reservation.

⏰ 7 AM - 3 PM
Timed Vehicle Reservation are required and available to purchase in 2-hour increments. You must enter the park during this time window, otherwise you can return after 3 pm.

🙋🏻‍♀️Do I buy my reservation now?
A portion of Going-to-the-Sun Road reservations will be released on a 120-day (approx 4 months) rolling window beginning February 13 at 8 am MST.

⏳What if they sell out?!
Don’t sweat, next day reservations will be available to purchase at 7 pm MST starting June 12 on a rolling basis.

🎟️Lodging/Services/Exceptions
Those visiting with a service reservation located to the east of Logan Pass (St. Mary or Rising Sun) cannot use their reservation in place of a timed vehicle reservation. All visitor are able to drive Going-to-the-Sun from St. Mary without a reservation.

Lodging and tours (like ours 😉) originating west of Logan Pass can be used instead of timed vehicle reservation.
