Meet this lil park ranger! Colombian ground squirrels pop out of the ground like toast, squeak like they’re spilling secrets, and look like they’re begging for your trail mix… but they’re not. Do not feed the fluff! Human food is not built for wild guts. It can cause malnutrition and illness. Soft human foods can mess with their natural foraging and can lead to dental issues. All animals fed by humans lose their natural fear, making them easy prey- or extremely aggressive. While there are plenty more reasons not to feed wildlife you see around, no matter what, let’s keep wildlife wild. 🙏

You don’t need to scroll through 47 reels of someone blending kale in slow-mo. You need to go horizontal and contemplate life. Or the ceiling. Or your own toes.

You’re not tired? Pfft. Irrelevant. I nap for sport. I nap for joy. I nap because the carpet is warm and existence is exhausting. And because this bed is so soft!

Try this:
Lie down.
Sing to yourself.
Stare at nothing.
Let your brain go on screensaver mode.

Congratulations, you’ve just entered De-Stimulation Station. Population: you and whatever weird dream your brain coughs up. (Last week I dreamt I married a ham sandwich.)

Another incredible backpacking trip in the books! Some highlights from this past weekend: Madison performed a simple splinter removal surgery, some of Sally’s family members joined the trip, a guest claims she had “one of the best days of her entire life”, and we had sunshine the whole 3 days! First weekend this summer we haven’t been rained on. We have a couple more overnighters this season & then we plan for 2026! Those dates will be posted in the next 2 weeks so stay tuned.
