Day two may have been a little quieter on the crowds, but that just gave us more time for meaningful one-on-one conversations — and it was packed with great moments that made it a day to remember! We spent the day sharing McCreary County pride, connecting with folks from across the state, and swapping stories about our beautiful corner of Kentucky.

One of the biggest highlights? Getting the chance to talk with Matt Jones, the voice of Kentucky Sports Radio! A quick conversation, a friendly smile, and a memory we’ll be talking about long after the fair is over.

If you’re heading to the fair, make sure to stop by the “Pride of the Counties” area — Booth #214 — and let us show you why McCreary County is worth the trip. We’d love to help you plan your next adventure!

Did You Know? McCreary County holds a distinction no other county in Kentucky can claim.

Here, towering cliffs, roaring rivers, and miles of forest aren’t just weekend getaways — they’re part of everyday life. We’re the only county in the state where the Daniel Boone National Forest and the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area meet, making our backyard a perfect blend of rugged wilderness and protected national treasures.

And there’s something else that sets us apart… not a single incorporated city. Every town, neighborhood, and hollow is unincorporated — bound together by community spirit rather than city limits.

McCreary County isn’t just a dot on the map. It’s a rare place where nature takes center stage — and it’s ours to call home. ♥️

📌 Did You Know?

Today, it serves as an educational heritage railway offering rides into the historic Blue Heron Mining Community, a restored coal camp maintained by the National Park Service.

This preserved site includes ghost structures, audio exhibits, and first-person accounts — providing a glimpse into the lives of McCreary County’s coal miners and families in the early 20th century.
