Arizona to Jamaica - Rotary Voluntourism Trip

They 100% missed their flight.

They only arrived at the airport 1.5 hours early on a holiday weekend (the line to check bags was an hour on its own).

Instead of waiting in that line, they opted to consolidate luggage and go carry on only, which would have been fine, except they were told they had to check in at the ticket counter - which they didn't do because of the hour-long wait. When they got to the gate, they were told their seats had been given away for failure to check in.

They immediately called me and I told them to talk to the gate agent first. They were able to get them on a new flight first thing the next morning - and got them all checked in on the spot so it was already handled for the next day.

I called the resort to let them know they would be arriving the next day so their reservation wouldn't be lost due to no-showing. I also got the resort to shift their trip down a day to make up for the lost night and got them rescheduled on a new flight coming home.

It wasn't the way they wanted their trip to start, but we were able to save it!

‼️Always make sure to leave PLENTY of time at the airport!!! Having extra time sitting in the airport is so much better than the stress of not having enough time and the disappointment of missing your flight! ‼️

FAMILY FRIENDLY VOLUNTOURISM OPPORTUNITY

If you are looking for a memorable family trip for fall break this year, we have a group going to Jamaica to volunteer some time and efforts in order to help them to continue to rebuild after Hurricane Melissa. This is a family friendly opportunity and there will be plenty of time for playing at the beach!

Here's what you need to know:
🌴 October 1-6, 2026 (come for all, or part, of those days)
🌴 We are staying at RIU Palace Aquarelle, which is all-inclusive
🌴 Pricing includes resort, airport transfers and part of the cost of drivers to get us to our different activities
🌴 Pricing starts around $1970 for two adults

We are currently working on projects to benefit a local orphanage, an animal shelter and something to give back to the employees of the resort we are staying at.
