This is one of the thoughtest days visiting a new place with so much history and filled with pain.

I am lucky to not having close family members who were here but hearing about what happened here form the French point of view gave me a good understanding why Verdun was so important to them and why so many people got killed there and the ones being lucky to survive were mentally scarved for their life.

It filled me with deep respect for everyone who was living trough this hell on earth of the 10 months of constant attacks and counterattacks from both sides and the not ending pain it left behind.

The sacrifices made here are something that are unbelievable if you did not see or hear about them and beyond things you can't possibly imagine.

May god have mercy on the ones involved and suffered here.

It was in a different way shocking for me to go there with the awareness what happened here as it was when going to concentration camps from WW2 and hearing the stories from there.

It gave me a kind of idea why my grandfathers told me WW1 was worse for the army's as WW2 was worse for the civilians.

The cathedral and the market hall were spectacular as well and standing on the bridge that Patton crossed was also a new thing for me.

The only thing was the lightens up cathedral that took a lot of the colors away. Looked like a stadium with floodlight.

That was a bit disappointing.
Beautiful charming former imperial city going back to Charleslemagne.
The legend is that his wife is buried there.

Rounding it up I saw the worlds most expensive banana - I at it and put a new one in its place đŸ˜‰

And in austria complain about prices for food - well a banana for 6,2 million euros is quite expense as well.

The Next day
Research at the Bardo Museum and a visit to the historical Centre of Tunis before we went the following day to archaeological site of Cathage and Sidi bou Said.

The museum was an excellent preparation for the upcoming days spent nearly 5 hours there
