The 2025 season has slowly wound down to a full stop. It was a very strange season indeed. It was characterized by change seen in the form of a continued attack on the motel and the once common rooming houses. Demolitions were seen in the double digits throughout the City of Wildwood and other WW communities.

Fortunately, most demolished structures were almost immediately replaced by new vinyl multi story structures. Where this sequence does generate increased ratables for local property tax purposes, it continues to est away at the old traditional residences which many of our memories are based.

Along with each building lost, a change in our tourist demographics occurs. As our motel accomodations are disappearing, so too are the traditionally common “Day Trippers” being lost. Additionally, the week long tourists are becoming fewer, as they elect shorter stays of 3-4 days. The weekends were extremely strong this season, spawning the Thursday thru Sunday tripper.

If it weren’t for the frequrnt forecasts of poor weekend weather in the early start of the season, which actually resulted in little to no rainfall, the pre-season would have been half decent.

The decision on the part of the Morey’s Piers Organization to not open Easter weekend meant an economic disaster for the remainder of the boardwalk vendors. Instead, the Wildwood tourist economy had to remain dormant until Mother’s Day when the first amusement rides opened up. Sadly, this is what has happened since the five family owned piers have changed ownership and otherwise gone out of business, leaving one monopoly amusement ownership in control.

Hopefully, the amusement owners will reconsider early openings of the piers to allow the Wildwood communities to awaken earlier in the year.

I want to close with a reminder that the City of Wildwood Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting ceremony will occur on Friday at 6:30 PM 05 Dec this year. The parade lined up along Central Avenue North of 16th Street. The parade starts off at 6:30 heading south on Central Avenue, turning into Pacific Avenue at 26th Street. It passes Byrne Plaza and turns on Spicer Avenue to New Jersey Avenue and ends at the Plaza. The parade is followed by the tree lighting ceremony.

This entire weekend is chocked full of festive seasonal activities all over the Cape May area. I encourage you and your families to consider joining us at the parade, which kicks the wetland off to a start.

In closing, I want to thank each and everyone of you for supporting small businesses like Magnolia Patking & Bike Rentals. It’s sad to see how the dozens of family operated bike rentals, that existed in the 1960’s, have dwindled down to the twelve remaining today.

I hope that you are able to visit the Wildwoods in the off season and perhaps see the Magnolia Bike Rental Christmas Parade surrey entries! Have a safe, warm and healthy winter and we will hopefully see you in the 2026 season!

Happy Holidays to All,
from the Eyster Family at

A tragic loss for the Wildwoods. RIP Jack.

Watch the Tramcar Please is shocked and saddened by the loss of Jack Morey.

He changed the landscape of the Wildwoods with his vision and creativity.

Thanks for all the great memories!

Official statement from Morey's Piers & Beachfront Water Parks:

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Jack Morey, our beloved 2nd Generation Partner, and for the past three decades, the creative force behind Morey’s Piers.

Jack wasn’t particularly fond of titles, but was the Company’s Executive Vice President, Chief Creative Officer, and, most importantly, champion of “it will be beautiful… we change everything.”

Jack’s life is a testament to his passion, creativity, and unwavering love of the beauty of people, experiences, and life…which he often insisted on viewing upside down via an impromptu handstand.

Although known for his eccentric and gregarious persona, Jack would often dive deeply and quickly into conversations. Not one to recognize conventional boundaries, a favorite Jack question upon meeting someone was, “What do you love?” A question which he was genuinely curious about, which presumably left the unguarded recipient pondering the meaning of life a little more deeply than moments prior.

Jack was long fascinated with people, design, and public spaces from all around the world, and spent his life and career working to bring his incredible and innate creativity to life. If you’ve visited Wildwood, you’ve been touched by Jack’s vision.

The Rio Grande Avenue Gateway, the iconic “Wildwoods” sign, the Wildwood Dog Park and Beach, the Socratic Outdoor Learning Center, the Doo-Wop style architecture, Starlux Mini Golf, and his latest project the Big Little 9 Golf Course are just a few, and of course, Morey’s Piers and Resorts, all bear Jack’s unique vision. He drew inspiration from the most unlikely places and poured his passion for beauty, art, and human interaction into everything in which he was involved.

Jack adored the Wildwoods, often describing it as – “not a place for everybody, but it is a place for anybody,” and in answering the question of what’s your favorite project, there was no hesitation, simply – “the next one, but first we must fall in love.”

Jack saw the world in a way few others do, often combining elements which logically shouldn’t work together…but did.

Not one for meetings, committees, or offices (and reported to have declared in jest that budgets were for wimps), he was most often found in the field either dreaming, designing, or clearing the way for his next vision.

Jack’s perspective and passion are inspirations that, while irreplaceable, we will strive to follow as we continue with his personal quest to make Morey’s Piers the “Greatest Seaside Park in the World.”

While Jack loved his job, his true passion in life was his family. He loved his Bride of 36 years, Karen, and his two children, Zack (Morgan) and Jordan (Alyssa), and the many dog companions he had throughout his life, presently Hobbes, Finley, and Frankie.

When his grandchildren (Jack, Miller, and Nora) were born, he was the first to jump to the ground to teach them to crawl, spending almost as much time on the ground as the newborns.

We will draw inspiration from Jack’s constant intrigue and inspiration from the world around him and, in turn, his love of life, people, and creativity. For all of this, we, and anyone who spent time with Jack, are forever grateful.

Good morning!

It’s been some time since our last post……… but time that has not been wasted.

Since the season finished in late September of this year, we have been quite busily preparing for the Jaycees sponsored Wildwood Christmas Parade. Save the date: 6:30 pm on Friday, December 1st.

The route begins with the staging of the participants along Central Avenue. The parade begins promptly at 6:30 and moves southward, swinging over at 26th Street onto Pacific Ave. At Spencer Ave, the procession turns right to New Jersey Ave and heads north. The parade finishes at Byrne Plaza where the awards are given out and refreshments await everyone. I hope to see anyone interested in supporting this traditional Wildwood event there. The fun continues on into Saturday with games and small amusements for the local children. Please try to come out for this most memorable event.

This week, we will be finishing up our second entry for our small bike rental business. Of course, our entry will involve our rental surreys, but just what withey be this year? Many of you recall that the first years entry was Santa’s sleigh, all festooned out for his ride on Christmas Eve.

Those little tricky elves, apparently escaped from the workshop and stole Santa’s sleigh. In their “joy ride” (🥴) they spied the Wildwood parade lining up! Of course they joined in and had some fun! They somehow tricked some of my nieces and nephews into dressing up as reindeer to guide their sleigh.

This year will be our best surprise for the spectators!

We hope to see you there this Friday evening for some good old fashioned family fun and entertainment!

The important day has arrived and much preparations are left to be completed.
Several more battery packs need loading and testing for the LED lighting on the sleigh.
Looks like excellent weather gif tonight’s parade, with little to no wind expected. Temperatures should remain in the 45-48° range.
Yep, we got this one taken care of!

We hope to see many smiling faces along the new parade route! There will be plenty of candy to hand out to all. If you are unable to attend in person, we have an excellent family member who will be taking scores of photographs and videos along the parade.

Have a fantastic night with whatever you are planning to do!
Best wishes for a joyous holiday season!!!

Save the date: December 2nd.
The Wildwood Jaycees’ Christmas Parade down Pacific Avenue begins at 6:00 pm. The parade route starts at Pacific Ave & 26th Street, heading south to Spicer Ave. The return route will be along New Jersey Ave to Oak Ave and ending at Byrne Plaza. At 7:00, the traditional tree lighting ceremony will take place. There will be plenty of celebrating and merriment at this big event. Please be prompt as the parade only lasts about twenty to thirty minutes😍!

Magnolia Parking & Bike Rentals will be sponsoring our first float entry into this most prestigious holiday
event. There will be a large family presence, with costumed Elves, reindeer and more!

Please look for our uniquely decorated sleigh and the many reindeer in the parade. Apparently, we were able to have the normally busy elves take a break from their toy making duties to join us! They will grace the streets of Wildwood as they go “Joy RidN” in Santa’s Sleigh! Those little rascals!

There may be others that show up on the sleigh, but that will be a surprise for those able to see us in person.

We are hoping that you and your loved ones will be able to come and enjoy this rare, but still happening, Andy of Mayberry Event, in our wintertime version of Wildwood! 😍

As an added incentive, the many little reindeer will be passing out candy treats 🍭🍬and more as they pull the sleigh along!

As I understand it, Mayor Pete Byron and the Commissioners will be in the parade along with Miss Wildwood High and many other famous people! It just doesn’t get better than this celebration!

Come join us and have a fun evening enjoying the Wildwoods as we celebrate Christmas.

Remember:
Friday evening at 6:00 pm the parade kicks off starting at Pacific Avenue at 26th going south.

Enjoy the photos attached……… actual parade photos will be posted from this big event!

Sending our wishes to you and yours for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!

I really don’t post too often, but we have seen many newsy events over the past several months.

The 2022 season was a good one, hectic at times but good to see the economy rebound in strong tourism to the Wildwoods.

We had a great time making our first float entry into the 4th of July Patriotic Pooch Parade in North Wildwood. Our favorite star, our one and only Tw***ie, an 18 year old chihuahua, graced us with her presence making the living float complete. She is always a good sport for anything Aliyah thinks up for her!

It was a true family/community effort to construct and decorate the hundred pound float! It just kind of grew out of a much smaller concept, into a five foot working Ferris wheel.

Despite the long walk from the bike rental shed to the starting point for the parade, all participants survived to strut their stuff in the parade.

Aliyah & Tw***ie successfully claimed third place in their first attempt in a most competitive parade competition!

Enjoy the attached photo array for this event…………
