During the past several days, we have had approximately 1,100 acres burned by forest fires. Our county has experienced the driest September, October and so far in November, in over 100 years on record. At times the smoke and dust have been terrible. It is hard to express the thoughts and emotions experienced surrounding these fires.

Fortunately, our Dade County Forestry Commission and the Georgia Forestry Commission crews, as well as our local fire departments, have managed to control the fires without losing any dwellings or loss of lives thus far. Several of you who read this and view these photos might recognize some of the places we have hunted whitetail deer and turkeys together.

Tomorrow our local weather forecast is giving us a 60% chance of rain and a somewhat lesser percentage chance of rain in the coming days. We haven't had this much opportunity for precipitation for weeks. These photos were taken here in Dade County and one photo was taken in Chattanooga, giving a view from approximately 18 miles away.

The dinner with live and silent auctions will again benefit Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc. This organization transforms lives by providing guide dogs to those with vision impairment, veterans, and children at no cost to the recipients.

Our 22nd open house was an overwhelming success, with a completely sold-out event and a record-breaking auction that raised over $200,000 for Southeastern Guide Dogs. We want to thank everyone who traveled from near and far to join us for this incredible event.

The auction was a highlight of the evening, with Senator Colton Moore and his spotters keeping the energy high and the bids soaring. From beautiful guns to loads of laughter, it was a night to remember.

We'll update our website with approximately 175 photos from this year's event, so be sure to check back for a glimpse at the fun. Stay tuned for news about our 2024 open house.

We have three beautiful, collegiate themed, “one of one” quilts designed and made by Mrs. Barbra Gray of Nene’s Quilts. These custom quilts are 60” x 74.” Rivalries run deep here and it’s time to put these tri state rivals to the test and see which team has the most loyal fans.
