One week from today, it’s World Cup Soccer on The Square!

Join us in Downtown Wilkes-Barre as we celebrate the opening of the world's biggest sporting event with a community-wide World Cup Opening Night Watch Party! Before kickoff, make a night of it by exploring Downtown Wilkes-Barre's participating restaurants. It's the perfect opportunity to experience flavors from around the globe while supporting our local businesses. Then, head over to the Public Square outdoor watch party, where we'll stream the United States vs Paraguay match on giant video screen. The evening will feature family-friendly activities for children, making this a celebration for fans of all ages. Gracie Jane Sinclair & The Band, along with Mere Mortals, will perform at the Rockin' The River music series on July 31. Janie has been a rising star on the NEPA music scene for the past few years, having won multiple Steamtown Music Awards and Times Leader "Best of the Best" awards. On Sunday, she appeared on the weekly Music On The Menu with Alan K. Stout radio show, hosted by our Executive Director, where they discussed her musical journey and played a whole bunch of her songs. David Alusick, our fulfillment coordinator and office assistant, is noting his three-year anniversary with Visit Luzerne County! David is with us three days per week and is often one of the first people on our staff to greet our guests. David also handles the mailed distribution of our Visitors Guides and updates our website with event listings. And, for all of the holidays, he takes the lead on decorating our office.

David has a long history at the historic train station, having worked as a greeter at The Station restaurant, hotel and nightclub in the 1980s. No one seems to love our building more than him, and he brings that enthusiasm to work each day! Happy anniversary!
