One of the best-kept cruise secrets might be staying onboard while everyone else heads ashore, especially when the pool deck suddenly feels almost private.

On a busy itinerary, skipping a familiar port can mean shorter lines, easier restaurant reservations, quieter lounges, and a much more relaxed day without spending extra money on excursions.

Of course, giving up a destination you have never visited can feel like wasting part of the cruise fare, so the choice often depends on the itinerary and how much you value time onboard.

Sometimes the most luxurious day of the whole vacation is simply enjoying the ship you already paid thousands of dollars to experience.

Tip of the day.

Once you receive your U.S. passport, don’t forget to sign it!

Adult passports (age 16 and up): You must sign your full name in blue or black ink inside your passport.

Child passports (under age 16): A parent should print the child's full name on the signature line. The parent should also sign their name next to the printed name of their child and note their relationship to the child, such as mother, father, or guardian.

The TSA 3-1-1 rule still applies in full in 2026, and the part that trips people up is this: the rule measures the container, not how much product is left inside. A 6oz shampoo bottle that is nearly empty still gets pulled at security.

Peanut butter, hummus, yogurt, and gel deodorant all fall under the liquid rule. If it can be poured, squeezed, or spread, TSA treats it as a liquid.

Medications, baby formula, and breast milk are exempt in reasonable quantities. Declare them at the checkpoint before the belt and they'll be screened separately, no size restriction applies.

Worth a quick check before your next flight. What has TSA ever pulled from your carry-on? Drop it below.

Happy Monday! FYI.

If you're flying two airlines this summer, your power bank rules are different on each leg. Southwest limits you to 1. American allows 2. Delta has not set a specific power bank limit. United allows standard banks in carry-on only with no stated count limit, but if your carry-on is gate-checked at the boarding door, the power bank has to come with you into the cabin. Emirates allows 1 and bans in-flight use completely.

The charger that's fine on your first flight could be a problem on your connection.

One rule every carrier agrees on: power banks go carry-on only. Not checked. Not the overhead bin. Under your seat or in the seatback pocket.

Check which airlines you're on this summer and make sure the rules match on both legs.
