Wilmington, Delaware and the Brandywine Valley. Preservation and progress. Tradition and innovation. Exploring the differences makes each visit to the area unique, filled with unexpected discoveries and moments that couldn’t happen anywhere else on the east coast. Wilmington is the urban hub of the region, the Corpor

ate Capital of America, and the largest downtown in the state of Delaware. It’s a center for banking and innovation, with world-class restaurants, museum, performing arts spaces and, of course, tax-free shopping. But travel north into the heart of the Brandywine Valley, and city streets turn into country lanes, where elegant estates and glorious gardens of a bygone era are a testament to the wealth and influence of the du Pont family and the beauty of their legacy. It is like stepping back into a greater, grander time – amazingly, only minutes away from I-95.

Delaware250: Did You Know? 👀

Before there was Independence Day, there was Separation Day.

On June 15, 1776, nearly three weeks before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Delaware officially declared its separation from both the British Crown and Pennsylvania, becoming a distinct and self-governing state.

This bold decision paved the way for Delaware's delegates, Caesar Rodney, Thomas McKean, and George Read, to help shape the future of a new nation.

Today, Delaware commemorates this historic moment each year with Separation Day in Historic New Castle, featuring reenactments, live entertainment, community celebrations, and fireworks in the state's colonial capital.

As America prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, Delaware's revolutionary story is one worth rediscovering ✨
