✈️ The aviation industry's biggest annual gathering is happening this week in Rio de Janeiro.

The 82nd IATA Annual General Meeting runs June 6 to 8, hosted by LATAM Airlines Group. Every year, this event sets the tone for the rest of the industry: financial forecasts, aircraft delivery outlooks, sustainability targets, and policy positions that shape how airlines operate for the next twelve months.

IATA's December 2025 forecast projected $41 billion in combined industry profit for 2026. A lot has changed since then, and the updated outlook will be worth paying attention to.

We will be following the announcements as they come out. Is there anything specific you want us to keep an eye on? Let us know in the comments. 👇

✈️ American Airlines just updated its AAdvantage elite benefits. Here is what changed.

Starting May 18, AAdvantage elite members flying on basic economy fares no longer receive free seat assignments or complimentary upgrades. American Airlines does, however, preserve priority boarding for elite members on all fare types.

This is actually the second round of cuts to basic economy in recent months. In December 2025, American also stripped basic economy tickets of AAdvantage mile and Loyalty Point earning, meaning these fares no longer count toward status at all.

AA says the changes are part of a broader effort to align benefits with the fare paid. For travelers who regularly mix fare types depending on the trip, it is worth knowing which specific benefits your status will and will not cover on basic economy going forward.

✈️ Your next work trip could easily double as a vacation. Here are a few tips on how to make it happen:

📋 Check your company's travel policy first. 85% of bleisure travelers say their company covers hotel costs, which can make the extended stay almost free.

📅 Plan around a weekend or public holiday. You can add two or three extra days to your trip without touching your vacation allowance.

🌙 Arrive a day early. If you have a big presentation or client meeting, getting in the night before to decompress makes the work part better, too. Just confirm your company will cover the extra night.

📍 Stay somewhere central rather than next to the conference venue. The commute to meetings might be longer, but the city becomes more accessible after work.

Do you already do this on work trips? What has worked for you? Let us know in the comments. 👇

✈️ Business class has a new type of passenger, and it's changing the experience for everyone on board.

For decades, premium cabins were filled with road warriors who needed to arrive fresh for meetings. That's changing now: corporations are cutting back on travel spending, and leisure travelers are taking their seats. For example, roughly 70% of business class passengers on some Qantas routes are now flying for leisure, and Delta reports that 75% of its first class seats are filled by full-paying customers, up from just 12% in 2009.

The cabin is starting to feel different. More passengers are experiencing business class for the first time, and it shows. First-timers tend to overdress, ring the call button more often, order more food than they can eat, and photograph the entire experience for Instagram. Crew members are increasingly acting as product tutors, not just service professionals.

✈️Delta Air Lines has launched a very unusual Airbus A321neo layout this May.

The new configuration includes 44 first-class recliner seats, 54 Delta Comfort seats, and 66 standard economy seats. For comparison, Delta’s standard Airbus A321neo has only 20 first-class seats.
These aircraft were originally expected to receive a premium, three-cabin configuration with lie-flat business-class seats. Because of seat certification delays, Delta will temporarily use this more premium-heavy domestic layout instead.
More first-class seats could help with increasing premium demand, but this Airbus A321neo configuration also comes with a few practical trade-offs. Forty-four first-class passengers will share one forward lavatory, and the crew will need to serve a much larger premium cabin than usual. On the plus side, Delta is adding an extra oven in the galley, which should help the crew handle meal service in such a large first-class cabin.
📍The first flights took off on May 20, 2026, on select routes from Atlanta to Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.

What do you think: is 44 first-class seats on a narrow-body aircraft a smart move, or too much for one cabin? Share your thoughts in the comments. 👇

The most common Italy travel mistake? Treating it like a checklist.

Rome for the ruins, Florence for the art, Venice for the canals, Milan for the shopping, and Sicily for the food. Suddenly, the trip has six stops, four train rides, three early checkouts, and very little time to actually enjoy yourself.
That is why it helps to decide early what kind of Italy trip you want.

🚆 Go multi-region if you want variety. Rome to Florence to Venice is a good route because the cities feel nothing alike. You get to experience distinct regions and cultures and see the contrast.
🍷 Stay in one region if you want depth. Tuscany, Sicily, or Puglia can fill a full trip without constant hotel changes. You get smaller towns, local food, slower mornings, and more time to immerse yourself in the local culture.
💡 Pro tip: pick a direction and stick to it. North to south or south to north, both work. What doesn't work is zigzagging. Every backtrack costs you half a day and a lot of energy.

Would you choose a multi-region route or stay in one region longer?

The airport that doesn't feel real!

An indoor rainforest. The world's tallest indoor waterfall. Facial recognition immigration. Lounges that rival five-star hotels.
Singapore Changi isn't a transit point. It's the destination before the destination.
And in 2026, it's going further. Terminal 3 upgrades, expanded Skytrain capacity, and next-generation passenger services are already in motion, with Terminal 5 on the horizon.

Some airports you tolerate. Changi is one you actually look forward to.

The world's greatest summer is happening. Where will you be sitting?

The events are extraordinary. Your journey should be too.
🏆 FIFA World Cup 2026, USA, Canada & Mexico (June 11 – July 19, 2026)
The biggest sporting event on the planet lands in North America. 48 nations, millions of fans, and zero margin for a bad journey.

🎾 Wimbledon, London (June 29 – July 12, 2026)
Strawberries, Centre Court, and one of sport's greatest stages. There's only one, and it never gets old.

🏎️ British Grand Prix, Silverstone (July 3–5, 2026)
F1 at full speed, best appreciated after a flat-bed sleep and a glass of something cold.

🚴 Tour de France Finale, Paris (Expected July 26, 2026)
Watch the peloton sweep onto the Champs-Élysées in one of sport's most cinematic moments. Magnifique.

Your summer itinerary deserves to be matched by how you get there. Your business-class seat shouldn't be the last thing you book.

This summer, two of the biggest events in American history are happening at once. Business class seats are already feeling it.

The FIFA World Cup lands on US soil this June. America celebrates its 250th birthday.
Two events, one summer, and together they're creating a level of travel demand that hasn't been seen in years. 🏆🎆

Here's what makes it different for premium travelers: Americans already tend to book late. 65% book within a month of departure. 54% spend a week or less researching. In a normal summer, that habit is manageable. This is not a normal summer.

The routes tied to World Cup host cities and America 250 celebrations are filling ahead of the usual curve. And with fares already climbing, the cost of waiting is higher than it's been in recent memory.

The data is clear. This summer rewards the people who move first. BusinessClass.com shows you where availability stands right now — by route, by date, by fare. ✈️

The Middle East just fell off the premium travel map. Here's where the world's business class passengers went instead.

When geopolitical turbulence hit in late February, global flight bookings to the Middle East dropped 28% almost overnight. Easter holiday bookings? Down 51%. ✈️
But premium travelers didn't stop traveling. They rerouted.
Singapore surged. Thailand spiked. The Caribbean saw some of its strongest booking numbers in years: Barbados up 36%, Panama up 48%. And from Europe, Africa quietly emerged as the surprise destination of the moment. 🌍
The lesson? Disruption doesn't kill demand for premium travel. It redirects it.

If you've been waiting for the right moment to book that long-haul business class trip, the routes that just got crowded are telling you exactly where the world wants to be right now.
