Today was my first school day off to play in almost 2 years. I'm heartbroken to lose the job that was everything I wanted because I designed it with the director but I'm happy to have the flexibility to go places during school hours again. I took advantage of the opportunity to go to Weeki Wachee and paddle this afternoon with no crowds. We might have seen 10 other people on the water during the trip but it was all in passing.
We were hoping the manatees were in the river today but it was warm out so they were elsewhere. My teenager said that I seemed down yesterday so he agreed to join me for the trip. We had a lovely 9 hours together aside from his feeling car sick. We wrapped up the day with a to-go order of Mexican food from Alejandro's in Brooksville.
The first image is me with a hat on and the second is a little blue heron looking for his lunch in the river.

Beautiful mountain views on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway as the aspens start to color the landscape gold. The summit was a red rock martian landscape with a little snow to add interest.
