When I attended the ASTA River Cruise Expo two years ago, I stayed on an AmaWaterways ship. Every morning for breakfast, I had their amazing gluten free waffles. While at that expo, I booked my 2025 Christmas Markets on the Rhine river cruise with AmaWaterways, which ranks as one of my favorite cruises. I ate so well on that cruise, and loved starting my day with a fun gluten free breakfast. I am on a Celiac Cruise Lower Danube river cruise this week enjoying lots of waffles. 😂

The highlight of our shore excursion in Belgrade, Serbia today was a visit to the Cathedral of St. Sava, one of the largest Eastern Orthodox churches in the world. The mosaics were stunning!

Over the weekend, we took a day trip to Gödöllő Royal Palace, because we visited all the major sites in Budapest when we visited three years ago. It is definitely worth the short train ride out of the city.

Last night, we had dinner at Bohémtanya Gluténmentes Vendéglő, a 100% gluten free restaurant in Budapest. The beef stew with homemade dumplings was incredible. I also really enjoyed the fried trappista cheese. Oddly enough, we were not fans of the breaded chicken with rice and cheese on top, which was our favorite dish when we dined at Bohémtanya the last time we were in Budapest. The picked cucumbers and Bavarian apple custard were other highlights of our meal.

We had a great breakfast at Free - The Gluten Free Bakery in Budapest. The pumpkin spice cruffin was amazing! The avocado toast and chocolate babka were great too.

Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Budapest is one of the bougiest hotels I have ever stayed in, and that bathroom. 😳
I have no words for that shower/tub combo. I need one at home. 😂
Budapest is one of the most gluten free friendly cities in Europe, and it deserves the nickname the Paris of the East. It is a beautiful city.

The Find Me Gluten Free app is such a great resource in Europe. I used it to find Madonna, a 100% gluten free and vegan ice cream shop in Girona, Spain. You would never have known their ice cream was vegan. I was told they use a mix of coconut, rice, and soy milk. The orange with chocolate flecks was amazing.
