Welcome home, G family!

Let me tell you… one of my favorite parts of being a travel advisor is building lasting relationships with my clients.

This amazing family returned TODAY and are looking to book their 5th trip with me, and my heart is so happy thinking about it! Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping them plan vacations, celebrate milestones, and create memories.

The “7 days prior” rule for Disney Lightning Lane is one of the biggest perks of staying at a Disney Resort hotel or select partner hotel. It basically gives you a huge head start on booking popular rides before off-site guests can.

If you’re staying at:
🎳 A Disney Resort hotel
🐬 Swan & Dolphin
🦢 Swan Reserve
🇺🇸 Shades of Green

…you can purchase and book Lightning Lanes starting at 7:00 AM Eastern exactly 7 days before your check-in date.

The BIG advantage—you can book for your entire stay at once (up to 14 days).

Example:
* Resort check-in: October 10
* Your booking window opens: October 3 at 7 AM
* On October 3, you can book Lightning Lanes for Oct 10–17 all in one sitting.

If staying off property, you only get:
* 3 days before EACH park day
* Starting at 7 AM Eastern
* No full-trip booking advantage

By then, some high-demand rides may already have limited return times left.

If purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can pre-select:
* Up to 3 attractions with arrival windows chosen ahead of time
* Then once you use one in the park, you can book another.

Lightning Lane Single Pass is a separate pay-per-ride purchase for top attractions like:
* TRON
* Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
* Rise of the Resistance
* Flight of Passage

Why is the 7 day window so important? Some rides disappear FAST:

During busy seasons, resort guests can grab many of those before off-site guests even become eligible to book.

If you want unique entertainment unavailable during normal park hours, rare characters and costumes or want tons of candy and shorter waits… you need to go to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is Disney World’s separately ticketed Halloween event held at Magic Kingdom on select nights from August 7 through October 31, 2026. It’s one of Disney’s most popular seasonal events because the park transforms into a family-friendly Halloween party with rare characters, trick-or-treating, exclusive entertainment, themed snacks, and guests in costume.

* Official party hours: 7 PM–12 AM
* Party ticket holders can enter Magic Kingdom starting at 4 PM. No park admission is required—just a party ticket
* Tickets range from about $119–$229+ tax depending on the date. Halloween is sold out!

The event includes:
* Unlimited trick-or-treating trails
* The famous “Boo-To-You” Halloween parade
* “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular” fireworks
* Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular stage show
* Rare character meet-and-greets
* Lower ride waits on many attractions
* Exclusive food, drinks, and merchandise
* Guests of all ages can wear costumes (within Disney guidelines)

My tips:
* Watch the second parade because crowds are lighter
* Enter at 4 PM to maximize value
* Prioritize characters early because lines get long fast!

The kids sautéed shrimp at Primo Piatto is one of the more unique and healthier kids meals at Disney quick service locations — definitely a step up from standard nuggets and fries.

The shrimp are usually simply seasoned and lightly sautéed rather than breaded or fried, so it’s a good option for kids (or adults ordering kids meals) who want something lighter but still protein-packed. Since it’s at Riviera Resort, the food quality at Primo Piatto tends to feel a little more elevated than many standard resort quick-service spots.

A few things people tend to like about it:

* Not greasy or heavy
* Good option during hot park/resort days
* Feels more “grown up” than a typical kids meal
* Includes fresh sides instead of fries by default

Staying at Gasparilla Grill, the kids chicken wrap at Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian is one of the better “lighter” kids meals on Disney property — especially if you want something quick that still feels fresh and filling.

It comes with:

* Oven-roasted chicken
* Lettuce and tomato
* Light ranch dressing
* Wrapped in a soft flour tortilla
* Choice of two sides
* A small drink included

It’s currently around $8.29 and is part of Disney’s “Disney Check” meals, meaning it meets Disney nutrition guidelines.

What people like about it:

* It’s lighter than burgers or fried food
* The chicken is usually tender and well-seasoned
* Easy to eat while resort hopping
* Filling without feeling super heavy in the Florida heat
* The customizable sides make it feel like a full meal

This is a great option for adults too!
