For anyone who has visited this glacier….this is so sad!

A substantial portion of the Mendenhall Glacier is expected to collapse at any time, and visitors to the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area are being urged to keep their distance from the glacier face. The glacier has shown significant calving activity in recent weeks, with several large sections falling and spreading across the ice on Mendenhall Lake.

As is always the case, ice may fall from the glacier at any time, icebergs that appear frozen in place can suddenly roll over, and submerged ice you don't see can shoot up from below without warning.

Important Travel Update: The REAL ID Deadline Is Approaching‼️

Starting May 7, 2025, you’ll need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification (such as a passport) to fly within the U.S.

What You Need to Know:
• Check your driver’s license. A star in the upper corner usually means it’s REAL ID-compliant.
• If it’s not, visit your local DMV to upgrade it. You’ll need proof of identity, Social Security number, and two proofs of residency.
• Don’t wait until the last minute—DMV lines will get longer as the deadline gets closer.

Pro Tip: Even with a REAL ID, having a passport is always a good idea for added travel flexibility.
