I took my boys to Riviera Maya in February to check out Chablé Maroma, a property I’d been wanting to see for a while.
Chablé isn’t really marketed as a family hotel. While we were there, the guests we saw were mostly groups of friends celebrating birthdays and couples on anniversary trips, and that’s where this property really shines. The Raw Bar restaurant + spa make it extra fun for groups.
But I wanted to see it for myself with the boys, because the hotels that aren’t pitching to families can sometimes surprise you.
A few things that stood out:
✔️ The boys were greeted at check-in with a coati stuffed animal and they have a chest of beach toys to pick from
✔️ We stayed in a Jungle Pool Villa — up in the trees, with our own pool, and the coatis actually came up to visit
✔️ We had long beach days with the kids running around, and I actually got to finisg lunch in peace
✔️ The beach itself is one of the best stretches in the Riviera Maya with soft white sand & calm water. kayaks and water sports included
One honest note: the energy at the pool and at meals is calm and quiet. It’s a wellness property at heart. So it works best for kids who can settle into that pace — not the ones still in the laps-around-the-restaurant phase (aka my wee beasties). So we did some room service and meals by the beach mostly.
A quick word on this brand, because I think Chablé is one to watch: it’s a Mexican hotel group with a real point of view. Their Yucatán property has an excellent kids club, which is the better pick if you’re traveling with younger kids or a bigger family crew. And they have a new property opening in Valle de Guadalupe — Mexico’s wine country — that I’m already excited about.
If you’re a group of friends marking a milestone, a couple on an anniversary trip, or a family with kids who travel well and don’t need kids club with activities every hour, Chablé Maroma is worth a look.
