If you’re driving I-95 through coastal Georgia, the Buc-ee’s in Brunswick is one of those places you almost have to experience at least once. It’s not just a gas station — it’s part travel stop, part tourist attraction, part roadside chaos.
The first thing you notice is the size. Rows and rows of gas pumps, a massive store, and enough snacks, jerky, fudge, and Buc-ee Beaver merchandise to fill a small mall. The bathrooms absolutely live up to the hype — probably the cleanest public restrooms on I-95. Even people who don’t love Buc-ee’s admit that part is true.
Food-wise, it’s better than your average truck stop. The brisket sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, fresh chips, candied pecans, and Beaver Nuggets are worth trying at least once. The fries are surprisingly good too. But not everything is amazing — some travelers say the food quality has slipped a bit recently, especially compared to the chain’s earlier reputation.
The downside? This place gets PACKED. The traffic circles getting in and out can be confusing, especially with RVs or trailers, and inside can feel overstimulating with crowds, noise, and wall-to-wall shoppers grabbing souvenirs and snacks. If you hit it during peak vacation travel season, prepare for organized insanity.
Still, for road trippers heading to Florida or cruising up the East Coast, it’s one of the better stops you can make. Cheap fuel, clean facilities, tons of food options, and a weirdly fun atmosphere make it memorable — even if you leave wondering why you just bought beaver-themed pajama pants and cinnamon pecans at a gas station.
Astute Tourist Rating: 8.5/10
Best for: Road trips, snack runs, clean bathrooms, and stretching your legs after hours on I-95.
Worst for: Anyone who hates crowds or sensory overload.
