✈️ FLIGHT PRICING: Let’s Talk Myths vs. Reality
I hear these all the time…
❌ “Flights are cheaper if you book on a Tuesday.”
❌ “Clear your cookies/cache before searching or the airline will raise the price.”
❌ “Wait until a certain time of day to book.”
The reality?
🎲 Airfare is kind of a crapshoot.
There isn’t one magical day or trick that guarantees the lowest fare. Airline pricing is constantly changing based on supply and demand, availability, route popularity, travel dates and how many seats are left at each price level.
Here’s a simple way to think about it:
An airline might have 180 seats on a flight, but that doesn’t mean all 180 seats are being sold for the same price.
They may make a certain number available at $299. Once those are gone, the next available fare might be $349… then $425… and so on.
And it doesn’t always move in one direction. Lower-priced inventory can sometimes become available again, which is why you can check a flight one day and see $500, then find it for $375 later.
That’s also why you can be looking at a flight, come back shortly afterward, and the price has changed. It’s not necessarily because you searched for it... availability changed.
Personally, I find that around 4 months before travel is often a sweet spot to really start watching airfare, but even that is NOT a guarantee.
And if you’re traveling during school vacation, holidays, spring break, Christmas, or another highly desirable week? Waiting for the price to drop can be a gamble. Those lower-priced seats can disappear FAST.
My best advice?
✈️ Start watching early.
✈️ Know what a reasonable fare looks like for your route.
✈️ When you see a price you’re comfortable paying, book it.
✈️ And once you book it… don’t drive yourself crazy trying to time the absolute lowest price. 😂
Airfare isn’t about finding a secret booking day.
It’s supply. It’s demand. It’s timing. And sometimes, it’s a little bit of luck. ✈️🌎
But years from now?
You probably won't remember what you paid for that flight.
You'll remember the trip. ❤️✈️
