Hello Wrangell! Tomorrow we have 11 open seats for a Stikine River Tour. The trip leaves at 8:30 in the morning, those going will meet at the shop at 8 am. This is a wonderful opportunity to take in Alaska's beautiful scenery. You will also get a chance to look for wildlife. The cost per person (with tax) will be $256.80.

Trying to gauge interest in having a USCG OPUV/100 Ton class here in Wrangell this April (2026)

The class would be held at the Nolan Center and is 11 days long from 8-5 for a total of 88 hours. Cost will be about $1500 per person and we may have some scholarships available to help.

This course and instructor have been approved by the US Coast Guard for third party testing. A UAS certificate of completion is accepted as a substitute for testing by the Coast Guard. Depending on sea experience and other Coast Guard requirements, a person passing this course is eligible to receive an Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV, commonly called a 6-pack license) up to a Master 100 Gross Ton license.

Please note that to receive an OPUV the candidate must be at least 18. To receive a license larger than OPUV (6 Pack) an operator must be at least 19.
