🌲 Introducing a local treasure: The Anan Wildlife Observatory! 🐻🐟
Today, we want to spotlight one of the most incredible places near Wrangell and share some very exciting news about it!
Anan Wildlife Observatory is a world-class, ancient Tlingit site where massive summer salmon runs attract both black and brown bears right to the cascading falls. It’s one of the few places in the world where you can watch these magnificent animals fish up close from a safe viewing platform.
And guess what? The experience is about to get even better!
The amazing T3 Wrangell team just headed back out to Anan to finish up maintenance on the live-streaming camera system. Building on their last trip, they are tackling a major milestone:
installing an underwater salmon camera! 🎥
The team and the U.S. Forest Service - Wrangell have been dreaming of this for two years. This new setup will give viewers a whole new perspective on the action right in the creek.
While they enjoy this gorgeous weather, the crew is also:
🔌 Connecting the remaining cameras to the network
🎙️ Attaching a new microphone for crystal-clear wildlife audio
🛠️ Weatherproofing the gear to keep everything organized and out of the way of visitors
