The Summit House is located five miles from the south entrance to Yosemite National Park, within the park boundaries, in Wawona. This was the first stopping place for the earliest stage coach visitors to this wondrous area. Surrounding this home rental are forests of sugar pines, cedar, redwood and manzanita trees offering a very special seclusion for the person who wants a break from the hurried

life. The major attractions in this area are:
The historic Wawona Hotel, built in the 1890's, which serves as a reminder of days gone by. The old pioneer village, which features rustic homes and pioneer activities, runs along the south fork of the Merced River. It is here that you can horseback ride, enjoy a ranch-style cookout, ride in an old stagecoach, or square dance in the barn. The Mariposa Grove of giant sequoia trees, Badger Pass ski area, Glacier Point and (of course) Yosemite valley are all within 30 min.of driving from the house.
