Thinking of these guys this weekend. It’s part of the 1st Infantry Division goin’ in at Omaha beach on D-Day, June 6th 1944. A real get the job done, don’t let your buddies down moment, captured by Chief Photographer's Mate (CPHoM) Robert F. Sargent.

A Depot Town connection is at the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum in Depot Town.

Many of the landing boats, like the one pictured here, were powered by a Hudson Invader 168 engine, which is a very cool straight six, 998 cubic inch overhead cam hemi with dual carbs. The engine was designed by Hall-Scott, a California company, and many were manufactured by the Hudson Motor Car Company in Detroit.

Hudson was told not to put their name on it, but they said “nah” on that one. These are pictures of the Hudson Invader 168 at the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum.
