The fact that international textile practise has outdone almost all the local fashion in the world at a large scale is not necessarily true in case of Uzbekistan. The silk of Uzbekistan is widely popular around the world. We can see some of the most original and visually dramatic examples of Central Asian silk in the national textiles of Uzbekistan. One of these is a fabric embroidered with silk threads, called "Suzani" and another called "Ikat" which is woven with hand-spun silk yarn.If you want to read more about Central Asia, please visit our blog herehttps://www.centrasiatours.com/traveljournal---------------Swipe left and see more content from Roberto Pataki of Pinterest 😎 Link in bio us on Facebook: ---------------CTTO: mamanushka.com and dookinternational.com/

Po-i-Kalan or Poi Kalan, is an Islamic religious complex located around the Kalan minaret in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. The complex is located in the historic part of the city. Since 713, several ensembles of main mosques were built in this area, to the south of the Ark citadel. One of these complexes, burned down by Genghis Khan during the siege of Bukhara, was built in 1121 by the Karakhanid ruler Arslan-khan. The Kalan minaret is the only one of the structures of Arslan-han complex that was kept safe during that siege. If you want to read more about Central Asia, visit our profile.---------------Swipe left and see more content 😎 Link in bio us on Facebook: ---------------CTTO: Travelers Society

Traditional Uzbek women’s suit consists of plain khan-atlas tunic-dress and wide trousers. Holiday garments were made of satin fabric richly embroidered with golden thread. Women’s headdress consists of three elements: a skull-cap, kerchief and turban. An essential part of traditional holiday garments of Uzbek women are gold and silver jewellery: earrings, bracelets, necklaces. Surkhandarya women most of all prefer the colors of red nuance as a symbol of well-being. The embroidery pattern was chosen not by chance, it always had magic or practical function. One could judge about the owner’s social status by the patterns, though sometimes they bear other meanings. If you want to read more about Central Asia, please visit our websitehttps://www.centrasiatours.com/---------------Swipe left and see more content from Indyguide 😎 Link in bio us on Facebook: ---------------CTTO: Nabikhan Utarbekov

Sometime after Genghis Khan became the ruler of the Mongol Horde, and consequently, the Great Khan - he started sending envoys and messengers across the known world connected through the Silk Road.

At his sacking of Bukhara, he entered the old masjid, with his shoes. Trampling over the rights, traditions, and beliefs of the Muslims in the citadel, he said: “I am your god’s punishment towards you for failing to live up to your religion.”

It's darker than dark. A solid beam of torchlight punches through the blackness ahead where giant, unseen towers of rock point up to a night sky crazed with billions of stars.

It's cold, too. Two o'clock in the morning, late winter cold. Breaths of mountain air rasp in and out of lungs as the small group hauls gear higher up the side of the invisible canyon.

Lights are positioned. Tripods and cameras assembled.

The traditional coat worn by the Kyrgyz - the chapan - is no longer as commonly worn as it used to be, having been replaced in the main by leather jackets and Russian- style sports gear for many younger Kyrgyz. It is, however, quite commonly worn by older men in rural areas. The chapan, designed for warmth and comfort whilst on horseback, is a type of three-quarter length coat that is padded like a dressing gown. In some cases a felt cloak is worn over the top of it, while underneath an open, cotton shirt called a jegde is worn, with baggy trousers that are sometimes fur-lined in winter (during which season the customary kalpak is replaced by a fur hat called a tebetey or a telpek). Light leather boots are worn on the feet, over which rubber slip-on over-boots are pulled on, to be removed whenever a dwelling is entered.

Women's dress tends to consist of long dresses in rich dark colours such as maroon, although the colour of preference varies from tribe to tribe. Most married women wear headscarves, which in summer at least is tied at the back of the head to expose the neck. The traditional Kyrgyz woman's costume of a tall headdress and white veil that surrounds the face and neck is now only usually worn on special occasions, such as horse sports and folklore events staged for tourists, and sometimes at weddings.

One of the popular tourist attractions in Kyrgyzstan is the Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Karakol. This is one of something like forty orthodox churches in the country, and a fine example of architecture and its checkered history stands as a witness to the commitment and dedication of the community of the faithful.

The story of the church goes back to July, 1869, when Karakol was basically a garrison town established as an outpost on the edges of the Tsarist Russian Empire. A chapel was established in the city centre to serve the Cossacks and other troops sent here, and a small brick building on stone foundations was erected.

Kyrgyz clothing reflects the region and the local way of life, with designs and materials drawn from nomadic life.

Wool, felt, leather, animal hide and coarse cloth constitute the primary materials of Kyrgyz clothing, and decorations are based on tribal traditions and also drawn from nature.

Tash Rabat is a well-preserved 15th century stone caravanserai in At Bashy district, Naryn Province, Kyrgyzstan located at an altitude of 3,200 meters.

As early as 1888, Russian doctor and traveler Nicolay Lvovich Zeland suggested that it was originally a Nestorian or Buddhist monastery. Research undertaken at the end of the 1970s and beginning of the 1980s by the Institute of History of the Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences concluded that Tash Rabat was originally built as a Nestorian monastery in the 10th century, although no Christians artifacts were found during excavations.
