✨ Discover the spiritual heart of Samarkand - the Imam Al-Bukhari Memorial Complex.
Located near Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the Imam al-Bukhari Memorial Complex is dedicated to Imam Muhammad Al-Bukhari, one of the most influential scholars in Islamic history and the compiler of Sahih al-Bukhari.
Following a large-scale reconstruction, the complex reopened in 2026. Covering approximately 45 hectares, it has been transformed into a major religious, educational and cultural centre, featuring a grand mosque, mausoleum and a modern museum dedicated to the life and scholarly legacy of Imam al-Bukhari.
The museum consists of nine innovative pavilions where visitors can explore the life and works of Imam al-Bukhari, the history of hadith scholarship, the lives of prophets mentioned in the Quran, and important chapters of Islamic history.
The complex is also an architectural landmark, combining grand turquoise domes, intricate Islamic ornamentation and beautifully designed interiors.
Since its reopening, the complex has quickly become one of Uzbekistan’s significant destinations for religious, cultural and educational tourism. More than one million visitors came to the site during its first month after reopening.
