Villa Somoya, Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands

Villa Somoya sits at the highest point in the Valley area of Virgin Gorda allowing for an amazing 360 degree view of the entire island and surrounding islands of the BVI and USVI. This villa takes its name from a South African Bantu dialect word meaning “wild wind”- for the near constant trade wind breezes that bless the home. Cooling eastern sea breezes combine with tropical plants and flowers to give that unforgettable smell of the surrounding islands. Located far enough away from everything to guarantee privacy, but close enough for easy access to breathtaking beaches like Spring Bay and The Baths at Devil's Bay, as well as Spanish Town, the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor, the historic Coppermine ruins, and many local restaurants and attractions. This 3-bedroom / 3 bathroom home sits on a hilltop ridge and features spectacular views. From its elevated setting, Villa Somoya is angled precisely to maximize unobstructed views of the Sir Francis Drake Channel, Gorda Peak, and the rugged Atlantic coast and reef below. Guests can see up to 19 U.S and British Virgin Islands in a stunning panorama of blue seas and rock formations. Thoughtfully designed to coexist with Virgin Gorda’s natural setting, Villa Somoya is nestled among giant granite boulders that reveal the island’s volcanic origins. The property’s indigenous trees and rock formations have been well preserved and further enhanced with landscaped gardens. The villa’s setting makes it hard to tell where nature ends and Villa Somoya begins.
