BVI or USVI? These two island groups sit just miles apart, but they offer very different weeks on the water.

The US Virgin Islands make arrival easy. St. Thomas has direct flights from many US cities, along with larger marinas, shopping, and established resorts. St. John feels quieter, with much of the island protected as a national park and sheltered bays made for snorkeling.

The British Virgin Islands are made for a week aboard. Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van D**e, and Norman Island sit close together, so most passages take a few hours or less. That means fewer long days underway and more time at anchor. The BVI is also home to a celebrated beach bar culture, with Jost Van D**e at its heart.

For a seven-night crewed charter, the BVI tends to offer the more cohesive experience, though many guests choose to enjoy both by flying into St. Thomas and crossing into the BVI by sea.

Why should you charter a yacht?

Family charters, what makes them work?

Charters are great for families and large groups!

A charter is planned in advance but is flexible enough to change mid-trip. Your itinerary is customized to what you asked for, and it can be adjusted if your plans shift while you are on board. No flights between stops. No restaurant reservations needed.

The activity list depends on the yacht. Some carry gear for waterskiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and tubing.
