Today is a reminder of something that feels more true with every passing year: don’t keep putting off the things that matter most.
Three and a half months before my dad passed away, he came to spend a week with us in the Virgin Islands. None of us knew it would be the last time some of us would see him. We thought there would be more visits, more adventures, more time.
There wasn’t.
Life has a way of reminding us that tomorrow is never guaranteed. The trip you’ve been talking about, the family gathering you’ve been meaning to plan, the adventure you’ve been waiting for the “perfect” time to take… sometimes the perfect time is simply now.
The memories we made during that week are priceless to me today. Not because everything was perfect, but because we were together. We shared experiences, laughter, conversations, and moments that can never be recreated but will never be forgotten.
If there’s something you’ve been wanting to do, someone you’ve been wanting to spend time with, or a place you’ve been dreaming of visiting, consider this your gentle reminder: take the trip. Make the memories. Use the good dishes. Celebrate the ordinary moments.
The things we treasure most in the end are rarely the things we owned. They’re the moments we shared and the memories we made with the people we love.
I’m incredibly grateful for that week with my dad and for the memories that continue to bring comfort and smiles, even on the days when I miss him most. ❤️
