🏴‍☠️🌴 SEPTEMBER IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS: WHEN THE ISLANDS EXHALE…

There’s something different about this time of year in the Virgin Islands.

The busy winter crowds are still months away. The docks are quieter. The beaches have a little more breathing room. And some days, you can pull into one of our favorite spots and think…

“WHERE IS EVERYBODY?!” 😂

For those of us who live here year-round, the quieter season has its own kind of magic. ❤️

It’s also when the Stormy Pirates family gets busy behind the scenes—boats get extra attention, projects get tackled, crews recharge, and we start getting excited about another season of adventures ahead.

Because before long, those docks will be bustling again.

Coolers will be packed. 🍻
Snorkel gear will be aboard. 🤿
The Pirate flag will be flying. 🏴‍☠️
And somebody will inevitably ask before we’ve even left the dock…

“So…when do we get the rum punch?” 😂🍹

🏴‍☠️ PIRATE CONFESSION: WE LOVE REPEAT OFFENDERS. 😂🌊

There’s something pretty special about pulling up to the dock and hearing:

“WE’RE BACK!”

Some of our guests have been out with Stormy Pirates two, three, four, ten, twenty or even 37 times!!!. ❤️

And one of our favorite challenges is figuring out:

Where can we take them THIS time?

Maybe their first trip was all about the iconic BVI stops. Next time, we might show them a quieter side of the islands—an incredible snorkel spot, a little beach they’ve never visited, or a lunch stop they didn’t even know existed.

Because after you’ve seen the famous places, that’s when the Virgin Islands can get REALLY interesting. 🌴

Our captains and crew spend their days exploring these waters, and there is nothing better than hearing a repeat guest say:

“How have we NEVER been here before?!” 😎

That’s also why we offer multi-day packages. If you know one boat day probably isn’t going to be enough, book more than one adventure and let us show you completely different sides of the USVI and BVI.

🏴‍☠️ MEET THE CREW — BRENDAN! 🌊

Brendan may be one of the newer faces at Stormy Pirates, but after six years of island life — and experience working with several charter companies — he knows a thing or two about what makes a great day on the water.

And we’re pretty happy he found his way to our pirate crew! 🙌🏼🏴‍☠️

From day one, Brendan says the owners, management, and his fellow crew members exceeded his expectations and made him feel right at home.

One of his favorite things about Stormy Pirates is the variety. Different boats, different destinations, different adventures — no two days are ever exactly the same.

Having worked for several charter companies in the islands, Brendan puts it pretty simply:

“Nothing compares to the experience and the team we have here.” ❤️🏴‍☠️

But for Brendan, what really makes Stormy Pirates special is the people.

There’s something pretty awesome about coming to work every day, loving what you do, and genuinely enjoying the people you get to do it with. That sense of family and camaraderie is a huge part of what makes Stormy Pirates… well, Stormy Pirates!

As we head into the slower season, Brendan is trading island life for some quality time back home with family and loved ones, celebrating a few weddings, catching up with friends, and enjoying a little well-deserved time away.

Then it’s back to the Caribbean and back aboard for another season! 🌴☀️🌊

And according to Brendan…

“Next season with Stormy Pirates is going to be the best one yet!” 🙌🏼

We couldn’t agree more.

🏴‍☠️ MEET CAPTAIN CARLIE! ⚓️

Originally from Pennsylvania, Captain Carlie’s journey to the helm is one of our favorites!

Before island life, Carlie was a martial arts instructor who also spent time serving and bartending. Then she came to the USVI planning to stay for just two weeks and help out during the Holiday rush.

Nearly six years later, she’s still here. 😂🌴

Carlie joined the Stormy Pirates crew as a mate with absolutely ZERO boating experience. But she was a fast learner, always up for a challenge, and quickly fell in love with life on the water. She soaked up everything she could about the boats, the industry, and island life.

Fast-forward a couple of years… Captain Carlie earned her Captain’s license! 👏⚓️

Today, she’s one of our badass Stormy Pirates Captains — and thankfully, she has no plans of leaving anytime soon!!

So what does Captain Carlie do when hurricane season rolls around and things slow down?

First up: renew those important certifications. ✔️
Then enjoy some quiet island time with good friends. 🌴
Head back to the States to visit family and friends. ❤️
And, of course, hit the really important destinations…

Six years later, it’s safe to say that Carlie’s little two-week trip to the Virgin Islands turned into one pretty incredible life changing Pirate adventure.
