Sapa is a breathtaking destination, and four days is the perfect amount of time to soak in the scenery without feeling rushed. Below is a professionally curated 4-Day Sapa Discovery Itinerary in English, designed to balance trekking, culture, and relaxation.
🏔️ Sapa Discovery: 4 Days / 3 Nights Itinerary
Day 1: Hanoi – Sapa – Cat Cat Village
Morning: Depart from Hanoi via privare limousine (approx. 5.5 hours). Enjoy the scenic views of the Northwest mountains.
Afternoon: Arrive in Sapa, check into your hotel, and have lunch. Take a short trek down to Cat Cat Village, home to the Black Hmong people. Visit the old hydroelectric power station and the beautiful Cat Cat Waterfall.
Evening: Enjoy a local “Salmon Hotpot” (Sapa specialty) and explore the Sapa Stone Church and the night market.
Day 2: Muong Hoa Valley Trekking (Lao Chai – Ta Van)
Morning: Embark on a trekking journey through the Muong Hoa Valley. Walk along small trails through terraced rice fields that look like “golden ladders” (especially in September).
Midday: Visit Lao Chai (Black Hmong) and Ta Van (Giay people) villages. Have lunch at a local homestay or a restaurant by the stream.
Afternoon: Continue exploring the valley or take a car back to town. For a more authentic experience, you can choose to stay overnight at a homestay in Ta Van.
Evening: Relax with a traditional Red Dao herbal bath, which is perfect for soothing your muscles after a long day of trekking.
Day 3: The Peak of Indochina – Fansipan Mountain
Morning: Take the Muong Hoa Funicular followed by the world-record cable car to the summit of Fansipan (3,143m). Admire the spiritual complex with its grand Buddha statues and the panoramic view from the “Roof of Indochina.”
Afternoon: Return to town. Visit Ham Rong Mountain for a bird’s-eye view of Sapa town in the mist, or visit Moana Sapa for some check-in photos with artistic backdrops.
Evening: Free time for shopping or enjoying a coffee at one of the “Instagrammable” cafes overlooking the valley.
Day 4: Ta Phin Village – Silver Waterfall – Hanoi
Morning: Drive to Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac) and Love Waterfall. If time permits, visit the Heaven’s Gate at O Quy Ho Pass, one of the four greatest passes in Vietnam.
Late Morning: Visit Ta Phin Village to learn about the unique culture of the Red Dao people and their famous embroidery.
Afternoon: Have a final lunch in Sapa and board the bus back to Hanoi.
Evening: Arrive in Hanoi around 8:00 PM
