Vietnam is preparing to expand its unilateral visa-free policy after a record year for tourism.
In 2025, Vietnam welcomed 21.2 million foreign visitors, the highest number ever.
Now the government says it does not want to stop there and plans to make entry easier for more foreigners.
πThe Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been asked to study and propose adding more countries to Vietnamβs visa-free list.
This means more nationalities could soon enter Vietnam without applying for a visa in advance.
At the same time, the government also plans to:
β’ Make e-visas easier and faster to obtain π»
β’ Improve border procedures at airports and land crossings π¬π§
β’ Use better technology to reduce immigration waiting times β±οΈ
Officials say the goal is to attract more travelers who stay longer and spend more per trip, such as families π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦, long-haul visitors π, business travelers πΌ, and wellness or golf tourists π§ββοΈβ³
Vietnam is now targeting 25 million foreign visitors in 2026.
Easier visa access is seen as a key way to stay competitive with other countries in the region. π
No official list of new visa-free countries has been announced yet.
But the direction is clear: Vietnam is moving toward easier entry rules for foreigners. π
