HOI AN – A STORY WRITTEN BY TIME 🇻🇳

Long before Hoi An became one of Vietnam’s most beloved destinations, it was a bustling international trading port where merchants, sailors and travelers from across Asia and beyond came together.

From the 16th to 18th centuries, Hoi An flourished as an important commercial hub. Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and other foreign traders arrived here, bringing not only goods but also cultures, traditions and new ideas. 🌏⛵

You can still see traces of this multicultural past today:

🏮 The Ancient Town – centuries-old streets lined with historic yellow houses and traditional architecture.

🌉 Japanese Covered Bridge – one of Hoi An’s most recognizable symbols, reflecting the historical presence of the Japanese community.

🏯 Chinese Assembly Halls – beautiful reminders of the Chinese merchant communities that once lived and traded here.

🛍️ The Old Trading Streets – where the spirit of Hoi An’s former merchant town can still be felt through local crafts, food and traditional businesses.

In 1999, Hoi An Ancient Town was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, preserving its unique architecture and the story of a historic trading port.
