Flipside Adventures Vietnam (previously Flipside Backpackers Hostels) are Kiwi owned and operated. Post Covid 19 we have been forced to close all locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh Cities. during this time we have been building a boutique lodge in Ha Giang city. Our famous True North Tour of the Ha Giang loop has not stopped running but instead we have used the downtime to capitalize on perfecting a tour which was already referred to by many as "the best experience I had in Vietnam!"

Wondering what your first morning with us looks like before heading off on the adventure of a lifetime? Here’s how the day begins.

Start with breakfast and a good cup of coffee while getting to know your fellow travellers. Whether you’re in the mood for pancakes, a big Kiwi breakfast, or something local like phở or bánh mì, we’ve got plenty of options to fuel the day ahead. ☕🥞

After breakfast, our team will take everyone through a full safety briefing and explain the itinerary, so you know exactly what to expect before we hit the road.

Next, it’s time to pack your day bag. Any luggage you don’t need on the trip can be safely stored at our base, so you only carry the essentials. Then we’ll help you find the right ECE-certified helmet to ensure a comfortable and secure fit throughout the journey.

Self-riders will receive a short bike briefing, while passengers will meet their easy riders for the very first time. It’s always a special moment, knowing this is the person who will guide you through the mountains over the next few days. 🏍️

With the bikes checked, bags packed, and helmets on, there’s only one thing left to do: hit the road. We can’t wait to share the adventure with you.

Today you’ll get to know Quyết, who’s been working at Flipside for over 2 years! At first glance, he may seem a bit shy, but nothing could be further from the truth.

What’s your favourite thing about your job? 🏍️
What I enjoy most about my job is spending time and talking with people during the trip, and learning new English words!

Which Vietnamese words/sentences do you teach all your passengers? 🌼
I try to teach all of them a little bit of Vietnamese, but most of the time I teach them:
- Xin chào, bạn khỏe không? (hello, how are you?)
- Bạn thật tuyệt vời! (You are amazing!)
- Món ăn rất ngon! (The food is delicious!)
- Chúc ngủ ngon! (Good night!)
But the most important one is: một hai ba dzô! 🍻

What is your favourite stop during the loop? 🌊
Usually, my favorite places on trips are waterfalls, because there I can swim, play in the water, and jump in. During a day on the bike, it’s nice and refreshing!

What is your favourite food? 🍲
I like all kinds of food, but my favorite is grilled food. I think I’m addicted to it 🥓
