Day 11 — Our Final Day in Hue 🚴🇻🇳

Our final day in Hue turned out a little differently. Heavy rain came down across the city, so we left the bikes behind and spent the day exploring Hue together.
We started at Hue Imperial City, the former home of Vietnam’s Nguyen Dynasty and the political heart of the country for more than a century. Walking through the old gates, palaces and courtyards, it was easy to imagine what life must have been like inside the imperial capital.
Then we continued to Thien Mu Pagoda, one of Hue’s most iconic landmarks. Sitting quietly beside the Perfume River, the pagoda has become a symbol of Hue and is deeply connected with the city’s history, poetry and local stories.
Our final stop was Khai Dinh Tomb, with its unique mix of Eastern and Western architecture.
And of course, we had to finish with a proper Hue lunch — small traditional cakes, but somehow enough to fill us up. 😄
Then came the hardest part of the trip — saying goodbye. After nearly two weeks together on the road, it suddenly felt strange to know there would be no more morning starts, no more bikes waiting outside the hotel, no more riding together. 🥹
There were hugs, smiles, a few emotional words and plenty of “see you again.” The journey from Saigon to Hue is finished, but for us, this is the part of guiding we will remember — the people we shared the road with.

Day 11 — Our Final Day in Hue 🚴🇻🇳

Day 10 — Hoi An to Hue 🚴🇻🇳

Today, we said goodbye to Hoi An and headed north towards Hue.
We started along the coast through Da Nang, with a little more traffic at first. Then came Hai Van Pass — not the longest climb, but the steady gradients were enough to test the legs. With the e-bikes, everyone could find their own pace and still enjoy the views along the way.
After reaching the top, we took a short break, refuelled, and enjoyed the long descent towards Hue.
The weather in Hue was kind to us today — a little sunshine, some wind and plenty of clouds. We stopped for lunch beside a long lagoon surrounded by local oyster farms before heading deeper into the countryside.
One of the surprises of the day was seeing huge family tombs with incredible architecture along the village roads. We also stopped at a local home to see how they grow mushrooms before continuing into Hue.
And tonight, after nearly two weeks on the road together, we have a farewell dinner. A good ride, a lot of memories, and definitely a few mixed emotions. ❤️

Day 8 — Quang Ngai to Hoi An 🚴🇻🇳

We left Quang Ngai and headed north towards Hoi An.
It was a hot day, so naturally, the legs seemed to turn a little faster. 😅
Along the way, we stopped at Ky Anh Tunnels, where we met Mr. Ta, a local veteran who shared with us the stories of life underground during the war. Through his stories and gestures, we got a glimpse of what people experienced and how they lived in these tunnels during those difficult years.
Then, after hours of riding in the heat, Hoi An welcomed us with a heavy rain — almost as if the sky was finally cooling everything down for us.
As the rain eased, the first lanterns began to appear.
We had arrived in Hoi An Ancient Town, a historic trading port that grew into one of Southeast Asia’s important commercial centres from the 16th to 18th centuries, connecting local traders with merchants from across Asia and Europe.
Today, we rode through its colourful old streets before checking into a hotel with a beautiful old-world feel.
From the heat of the countryside to the lanterns of Hoi An — another memorable day on the road.
Tomorrow, we take a well-deserved rest day — giving our legs a chance to recover while we explore Hoi An. 🚴🏮

Day 7 — Quy Nhon to Quang Ngai 🚴🇻🇳

We left Quy Nhon under cool weather, a little wind and just enough sunshine for a good day on the bikes.
The road soon took us through green peanut fields, harvested rice paddies and corn farms, with the smell of fresh corn still hanging in the air.
Then a small fishing village appeared, with bright blue fishing boats resting along the coast. We kept riding under the shade of coconut trees, with the road getting quieter as we moved further into the countryside.
By the afternoon, we stopped at My Lai, the site of the My Lai Massacre in 1968, where hundreds of unarmed Vietnamese civilians were killed during the Vietnam War.

Day 6 — Tuy Hoa to Quy Nhon 🚴🇻🇳
Today, we left Tuy Hoa and first rode past Nghinh Phong Tower, one of Phú Yên’s most iconic landmarks, inspired by the province’s coastal landscape and local culture.
Then we turned into small village roads, passing children waving hello, a traditional fish sauce workshop, old rice mills and colourful mat-making villages.
There were so many little things worth stopping for — local people at work, sesame rice paper drying by the road, and the quiet rhythm of village life.
After a few climbs and narrow lanes, we stopped for lunch overlooking Gành Đá Đĩa — Phú Yên’s famous coastline of naturally formed basalt columns.
Standing there, looking out at the dark stone formations meeting the blue sea, it was hard to believe this was part of our cycling route.
Then it was back on the bikes, riding towards Quy Nhơn, with fishing villages and flags waving along the road.
We finished the day at Mằng Lăng Church, one of Vietnam’s oldest churches, known for its distinctive old architecture and beautiful stone details.
Another good day on the road. 🚴🌊
