✨ A truly authentic 4-day journey in Xóm Sưng – through Loris’s eyes ✨

Traveling solo, Loris joined one of our shared transfers and spent four unforgettable days living like a local in Xóm Sưng – a peaceful Dao Tiền village just 3 hours from Hanoi.

From harvesting rice with Ms. Hằng’s family and sharing lunch right on the terraced fields 🌾, to hands-on workshops on traditional crafts like Dó paper making, beeswax printing, and indigo dyeing – every moment was filled with authenticity and connection.

🌾 Living the harvest season at Phu Mau village – Where travel meets everyday life 🌾

At Phu Mau community-based tourism village (Van Ho, Son La), travel is not just about seeing new places — it's about stepping into the daily rhythm of local life.

This time, we welcomed a family whose children grew up in Malaysia — far from rice fields and harvest songs. But during their stay at the homestay of Uncle Khương Thư, they didn’t just stay as guests — they lived as part of the village.

🍚 They joined the villagers in harvesting ripe rice in golden fields, learning how every grain on the dinner table begins — from planting, growing, to the hard work of gathering under the sun. For the children, it was the first time they saw — and touched — the story behind each bowl of rice.

🥣 In the evening, the whole family gathered to make "bánh ốc" – a shell-shaped rice cake, guided by Uncle Thư’s family. Sticky fingers, laughter, and the warmth of a shared kitchen made it a night to remember.

“CBT DA BAC is a very valuable project enhancing life and culture of the local people. It was such an amazing experience carried in the most professional way. Travelling vietnam, I rarely encountered the attention for the guests and the authenticity I found there. I have been accompanied by Q, an extremely knowledgeble guide, who helped me to immerse and understand the costumes and mindset of some aspects of both Vietnam and local ethnics. He is attentive and willing to reshape the activities according to your needs, as well as the villagers who have been the best hosts of this journey in vietnam so far. The food exedeed my expectations and it was rich and abundant. the quality and variety of the activities was impressive, as well as the commitment of local people to genuinely interact,put your at ease and involve you in their lifestyle. I have tried 2 homestays which have been confortable, considering there are mosquito net, fans and drinking water. Of course it is not an hotel, but if I had to choose an homestay experience in vietnam, I would look no further, also because this place is totally unspoiled, you will never feel in a tourist trap. Also, I would definitely recommed this tour to people who have not enough time to travel the rural areas and villages in northern vietnam. They could reach this place easily from Hanoi getting even a more exclusive, quiet and real vibe.I would love to go back! 2 năm trời đều mưa nhưng cũng không giảm được tinh thần học hỏi, tìm hiểu của các bạn với mô hình du lịch cộng đồng, với bà con Đà Bắc.

Buổi chia tay trúng dịp Trung Thu, trẻ con, người lớn, ai nấy đều háo hức. Các bạn sinh viên được dịp trổ tài làm mâm ngũ quả, thành quả khiến ai cũng bất ngờ.

Mong sao các bạn thu lượm được những kiến thức và trải nghiệm thực tế, sớm hoàn thành chương trình học thật xuất sắc và sẽ trở lại Đà Bắc một ngày không xa.
