Lydia Ko on November 20 won the LPGA Tour Championship, and also won the "Outstanding Player" award and the Vare Cup for the golfer with the best average number of strokes all season. Ko finished first at -17, two strokes behind Irish runner-up Leona Maguire. With this victory, the former world number one New Zealand won 2 million USD in the 7 million USD fund. That is the highest award in women's golf today. The season-end title also helped Ko win the title of "Best Player" for the second time on the LPGA Tour. Before the tournament, the New Zealand golfer led this race with 150 points, just one point ahead of the runner-up Lee Minjee. In the end, she won with 180 points, leaving Lee 31 points behind.
Ko is only 25 years old, but has played nine LPGA Tour seasons with 19 titles, including two majors. She first won the cup in this arena at the 2012 Canadian Women's Open at the age of 15 and was still an amateur. On February 25, 2015, she reached the top of the Rolex Rankings and became the youngest player to hold the number one ranking in the world golf table, considering both men and women at 17 years, nine months and nine days. On the Rolex Rankings, Ko has accumulated 104 weeks at the top, and is currently third.
From now until the end of the year, Ko will relax and prepare to get married. "LPGA Tour Championship is the last one I competed in as a single," she revealed during the award ceremony
