Sat down in the middle of this and didn't feel like doing much else.

There's a specific kind of quiet you only get above rice terraces — half green, half gold, air smelling like wet earth and cut stalks. For a minute I felt like a speck of dust against all that Northwest green, and it was the good kind of small.

Nậm Cang still looks like this for maybe 3-4 more weeks. Then it's harvest, then it's just fields again till next year.

9AM — good mornings with a breakfast in the middle of the terrace and flower crowns from the local kids.
12PM — hiking through terrace, bamboo forest and corn fields taller than us.
3PM — try the the rice pounder, worked the same way it always has.
8PM — 1...2...3...zô, more and more rounds of local 'happy water'.
One full day in Sa Pa. The terraces are still green — they turn gold in ONLY 3-4 weeks, right before harvest. After that, this version of Sa Pa disappears until next year.
