Hoa Lo Prison is located at Hoa Lo Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, which was built by the French Colonialists in 1896, just four years after the "earth hell" had began to be built in Con Dao Island. Hoa Lo has a total area of more than 12,000 square meters, which is one of the largest and most permanent prisons in Indochina at that time.

Located in the heart of Hanoi capital, the "Mot Cot" - One Pillar Pagoda was built in 1049 with the purpose of reconstructing a dream of King Ly Thai Tong, which a temple floats on a lotus pond. The pagoda is built of wood and is situated on a single pillar, designed like a lotus with beautifully carved paths.
