At the beginning of August, we had the pleasure of accompanying a family on a journey through the Mekong Delta.

Rather than simply visiting the region, they had the chance to experience it from within: riding a traditional local "xe lรดi", travelling by boat through the peaceful canals, meeting local artisans and taking part in a traditional weaving activity alongside the community.

Because some of the most meaningful travel moments happen when we slow down, meet the people behind a place and discover the traditions that are still part of everyday life.

This is the Vietnam we love to share: authentic, personal and experienced at a slower pace. ๐ŸŒฟ

When we think of Vietnam, one image always comes to mind: the "non la" - traditional conical hat. We see it in rice fields, along rivers, in bustling markets, and in countless travel photographs. It is one of the country's most recognizable symbols - and it is no coincidence that we chose it to represent Viet Cone.

But behind this simple Vietnamese conical hat lies a story that few people know. About an hour from Hanoi is Chuong Village, where, for more than three centuries, skilled artisans have continued to make every "non la" entirely by hand, preserving techniques passed down from one generation to the next.

Each conical hat is the result of patience, precision, and craftsmanship. The palm leaves are carefully selected, dried, ironed, and then stitched together one by one. There are no industrial machines - only experienced hands preserving an ancient tradition and passing it on every day to their children and grandchildren.

Visiting Chuong Village means much more than discovering a traditional craft workshop. It means meeting the people who keep this heritage alive, listening to their stories, and understanding how such a simple object has become part of the identity of an entire nation.

This is also why we are called Viet Cone. The "non la" is more than just an icon of Vietnam - it reflects the way we believe travel should be experienced. We believe that an authentic journey is not measured by the number of places you visit or the souvenirs you bring home, but by the people you meet and the stories that stay with you long after the trip is over.

On the banks of the Red River, Phu Gia is one of Hanoi's oldest villages, where traditions remain part of everyday life. Along its quiet alleys, historic homes, and sacred places, each generation passes on a living heritage of craftsmanship, memories, and community spirit.

Xoi (Vietnamese steamed sticky rice), the village's signature specialty, is much more than a local delicacy. It is a thread connecting past and present, carrying forward a story that lives on through the people who preserve it every day.

Recently, Viet Cone Travel took part in a training program held in the highland villages of Thanh Thuy commune, titled "Developing Community-Based Tourism in the Highland Villages of Thanh Thuy Commune" โ€” an activity under the TouristLab Vietnam Project, organized by CSIP in coordination with travel industry partners.

The three days spent training alongside the local community in Thanh Thuy were far more than sessions on paper. They were moments of sitting down with local families, listening to stories of their villages, their homes, their pathways, and the customs that generations here have preserved and passed down. They were days of surveying the villages together, sketching out ideas for an experiential tour, and imagining what a truly Thanh Thuy community tourism journey could look like.

Viet Cone Travel believes that community-based tourism can only grow sustainably when businesses and local communities listen to and understand one another, working together to build experiences that honor local values while meeting the real needs of travelers.

Our sincere thanks to the TouristLab Vietnam Project, CSIP, and all accompanying partners for creating such a meaningful forum connecting community and industry. We hope the ideas planted during this program will soon blossom into authentic travel experiences โ€” opening new livelihood opportunities for local people while preserving the distinctive cultural values of the highland villages of Thanh Thuy commune.

Paper, plastic, metal, organic waste and hazardous waste are all separated at the source to reduce landfill waste and improve recycling efficiency.

From May to June, the first summer rains awaken the White Plateau of Bac Ha. Water from mountain streams fills the terraced fields of Ta Van Chu, Hoang Thu Pho, and Thai Giang Pho, creating a shimmering landscape of serenity and untouched beauty.

This is also when Hmong and Tay communities begin a new rice season. Beyond farming, they preserve the age-old tradition of mutual labor exchange, helping one another transplant rice from field to field to ensure the work is completed on time. Amid the demanding days, laughter and warm smiles reflect the strong bonds that have united these mountain communities for generations.

โœจ Bac Haโ€™s beauty lies not only in its mirror-like terraces, but also in the spirit of sharing and the simple rhythm of life that continues to nurture this land.

Recently, as part of Viet Cone Travelโ€™s carbon offset program, we participated in a tree-planting activity at Cuc Phuong National Park. This initiative is part of our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of tourism activities and contribute to nature conservation.

During this activity, Viet Cone Travel planted Cho Chi trees, a native species with high ecological value. A small action that helps protect forests and reflects our commitment to more sustainable and responsible tourism. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ
