Located among the green tea hills of Long Cốc, Phú Thọ, Vietnam, Long Coc Recycling Home offers a distinctive way to experience sustainable living.

What makes this place special is its creative use of recycled and reclaimed materials. Old tyres, glass and plastic bottles, wooden doors, household objects and other discarded items have been given a new purpose in the architecture and interior design. Cool air, tea hills rolling out in every direction, waterfalls, caves, and villages where life moves at its own pace. That’s Mộc Châu.

Sitting more than 1,000 metres above sea level in Sơn La Province, about 200 km from Hanoi, it’s a lovely break from the heat of the lowlands. You can wander through tea plantations, see seasonal plum and peach blossoms, visit a waterfall, and meet local communities from some of the 12 ethnic groups who call the plateau home. Nothing here demands a hard trek, so it works well for families and mixed-age groups.

It’s also been named Asia’s Leading Regional Nature Destination at the World Travel Awards for the fifth year in a row (2022–2026), which says a lot about how many travellers fall for this place.

SUSTAINABILITY ON THE ROAD STARTS WITH EVERYDAY PRACTICES

Sustainability is not only about the destinations we visit. It is also about the way we travel, move and serve our guests every day.

Recently, our Operations Department, together with the Travelife Sustainability Project Manager, organised a sharing session on Sustainable Travel Practices for drivers and transportation partners from across Vietnam, held at our Hanoi Operations Office.

Nearly 30 drivers and transportation partners joined the session, both in person and online. The discussion focused on practical topics closely connected to their daily work, including guest safety, fuel efficiency, reducing emissions, minimising waste and choosing the right vehicle for each journey.

Rather than being a session of theory, it was an opportunity to share experiences, discuss challenges and look at how small changes in everyday operations can contribute to more responsible travel.
